Sorry guys for posting here if its in the wrong section.
I just need help as to what transmission I can swap on my old f5m22. I can't find the same one in my area. What are my options that will just straight swap?
The car is a 93 mirage 1.8l sohc. I'm a newbie to cars. Please help. Its my DD.

Just guessing but any fwd mirage lancer etc eith same engie should bolt up
Thanks croket,
So you're saying that a 97 and up mirage with 1.5/1.8 liter engine manual tranny should fit on my 93 mirage?
Just want a confirmation before I actually start replacing it.

no i don't think so if your mirages are anything like ours (we call them lancers for the coupes and mirage for the hatch) the engines swaped sides in 1995-6. you going to want to be looking for mitsubishi mirage 91-95 and dodge colt and eagle summit of the same era

Yea , went and look around today. Found a f5m31 from a eclipse. Would it work?

Not if its a 1g eclipse as you need to check that it has theroll stop mounts or not.

You will be better asking on dsmtuner or somewhere, or posting some pics pf car and gearbox.
You pprobably really need to count flywheel teeth as well so you get the correct bell housing size that matches your flywheel.

jack the f5m22 is what come locally in our lancers (both coupe and sedan) the Americans call them all mirage's and most protons. being in America I've posted up the most likely candidates for transmissions based on my limited knowledge of the cars they have local

i assume you car look something like one of these two

The picture you have shown khubner was correct except I have the sedan.
Looked around some more and found eclipses with 1.8l engines. The tranny code on them are the same f5m22 except I think the only difference with it is the gear ratios with my old f5m22. I just need to know how to check the transmission if its good or bad. Does anyone have any idea?

Checking the cond of oil might give an idea but ya gotta be careful cos it might have had an issue and the owner thought they might change the oil in hopes it fixes the problem,
crashed cars have a better chance of the gearbox being good but from my experience, they could be good today an shyte tomorrow

uploadfromtaptalk1409631880926.jpgthis is the one i got from the yard. The problem is the crossmember mounting for the mounts. This one doesn't have it.
This is the f5m22 with mounting on the trans bell housing uploadfromtaptalk1409632025168.jpgany idea if i can remove the bell housing and swap it? I heard its a pain separating it.

Oops,
The roll stops are on the front housing. You have to strip gearbox to almost nothing to change it. May as well change the input shaft seal as its about $2. And you will need to (should) check the gearbox preloads as you change the cases. Need to keep bearings/shells in matched sets too.
Not impossible....

Take it back. And get the right one. You dont want a 1g box, it needs to be a 2g with rollstop mounts.
I am not familiar with what gen is what.
What years can I take the tranny from? As you can see I am a total newbie on DSM. I appreciate all the replies.

The guy selling it should know. You can see the difference. You have identified that you dont have the mounts. You need a box that does.
Do you know if the speed sensor and axle spline on the 2g will be different?
I got the tranny from a yard. The people there just know how to look up a car and where its located. I was the one who pulled the tranny thinking it would fit. So that was my mistake.

Any f5m... should be ok. It just needs the roll stop mounts.
Also, check the distance between top 2 bolt holes on bell housing to motor. There is 2 different sizes, I dont know if any f5m are wide block but just in case...
Also the turbo fwd is a different box. I dont know what its numbers are but it will have a different bigger flywheel with more teeth on ring gear. I think you had 2g turbo fwd...
