Help Support 4GTuner:

Wae, I am running V3 with SD, I did get a complete kit from ECM tuning, not only because I want to support a DSM vendor, but also because it was the best price on those parts I could find! I do not know how they are underpricing eBay! :)

My air temp sensor has a bung welded into the throttle body elbow. And MAP sensor can be rapped into any of the boost/vacuum sourses, I happen to branch off the BOV line.

I will take some pics later this week.

Thanks, Ted!

i though the 2g evo can not work with the ecmlink v3 but v3 lite is ok.... or did I get it mixed up?

I think ill go with the SD bundle and Direct connect sd cable for the ease of installation.

Oh when you said you welded a bung into the throttle body elbow, did u meant after or before the butterfly valve? Hope to see some pics soon. Tjanks!

Wae

I am not sure what you mean by "2G EVO", but people are running DSM Link V3 in EVO8-9 with a custom harness, so I am sure you get it to work in older EVOs.

TB elbow is that cast aluminum piece that mount to the TB, so it is "before" the throttle (buttfly valve?).

For now, I am using modified stock EVO8 rear dampers (KYB) with cut 7 passenger van springs. These springs started out 450 lbs/in (8kg/mm) and are now around 600 lbs/in (10.7 kg/mm).

To see required mods to fit EVO8 on the van (or 1g DSM or Galant VR4), see my CarDomain.com page (www.reitmanracing.com and choose my Summit)

But this rear suspension is very much "work in progress", so I will likely change it.

Engine bay. Pretty standard DSM "go fast goodies".

For that matter, Galants and DSMs have a similar linkage for their clutch pedal. Mitsu must have liked doing this in the late 80's and 90's.

It is a Koyo radiator from EVO1-3. It was one of my first mods because factory rad went bad.

I had to weld on a bung for the coolant temp sensor. Ironically now I can control the fans by the ECU :)

So, today I took a long lunch and went to Granite State Dyno in Kingston NH.

The van pulled 265hp off the street
Then 292hp with open exhaust
Lastly 303hp changing pump gas with 110 octane race fuel

I probably could have gotten another 10 hp from more tuning, but I had to get back to the office.

I went to a local Import event for some test and tune passes. I kept breaking up on the launch (first two runs). Turns out 5 gallons (~20 liters) of race fuel is not enough... I was experiencing fuel starvation :( But adding two more gallons fixed this problem.

Has anyone else notice the same. Here are some videos with funny commentary :)

Last run was cured of fuel problem, but I missed 2-3 shift :(

Hahaha !

Dude could just not get it out what it is.

Well done on your times too, bit quicker reaction is needed, but you'll get there for sure !

Reaction is irrevelant during test and tune ;).

When I do race, I mostly do it classes which use a "pro tree", where starting/launching technique is very different from what you see in the videos. And people very rarely beat me on the pro tree ;)

My big screw up was missing gears on the 3rd run, when car finally ran fine :(

I might head back to the track tonight for one last shot on the 14b turbo.

Awesome video. Funny commentator! We need that type of commentation here. Usually they are very boring. Great times for a 14b. What is the secret to getting it go so well?
