k and n oil filter? lol.. u mean air filter yer?

Jon

I found that Purolator oil filters have the same features as the K&N and are much cheaper and easier to find. And they're prettier to look at too.
Cotton weave, Silicon anti drain back valve and seal

i'm running a k&n oil filter, but i have a oil cooler, which changes the location of the oil filter(and size) it took me a half hour at my local lube shop to find one that fit. Basically if the new filter makes a seal on the ring like to old one did, it's good. my k&n is an inch longer, and an inch wider than the original 'mitsubishi genuine part' one that was on it. i've already packed on 6,000 kms since i swapped it, and running amsoil, and no problems.

evolancer92, just wondering how the amsoil is? Also is the k&n filter any good?

I'm using ryco filters.

Ralliart do filters with magnets in them but they go for about 70 dollars a filter.

have'nt noticed anything wrong, although it's my first oil change. Apparently Amsoil claims you can go up 25,000 miles on an oil change, check it out http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atm.aspx. I've still burnt about a liter of oil (and leaked a little on the valve cover seal) in 6000 km's, but i boosted lots. I'm gonna change it before i go drag racing, about 7000 kms on this oil. Don't forget the oil filter might need to be changed before the oil ;)

BTW, what are the torques supposed to be on the valve cover bolts? i wanna redo the seal, and what is the best sealant for this?

theyre top filters with an excellent reputation

ive used them on every car ive owned and will never stray elsewhere

Same here, what part number are you guys using? I have been using a Z79A as thats what I have on my Pajero. And was what was on it to start with.

i'm just about to put a K&N oil filter on the galant, very good reports about them, will let you know how it goes

I found that the Z411 and Z142 are interchangable. I believe the Z411 is smaller to allow exhaust clearance. But the Z142 is cheaper.

BAH!

Oil filter relocator+Z9! King of the filters! Also $6.25ea bought in bulk 4 pack!

Isnt that right BAZ

lol Dane,
Z9 is the king of filters!

But i've dropped down a size, i didn't want to dump 6 litres of oil into the motor on each fill. Trying to get it down to about 5 litres only.

I use Z411 all the time,
What is the actual difference with Z142 beside the price ?

I change oil & filter every 3 to 4 months :D
so not logical to get a well branded expensive filter when its just goingt o get binned after a while.
