hey guys

if anybody is familiar with the STOCK JSPEC Setup, they use an OIL FILTER HOUSING which has a built in oil stat.. now, basically i've been told that i should go FULL TIME cooling..

by this meaning - OIL FILTER HOUSING ---- >OIL FILTER RELOCATION KIT -------> OIL COOLER -----> OIL FILTER -------> back to OIL FILTER HOUSING

now, these will be -10 AN items

but if i were to retain the current -10 only for the relocation kit and -8 for the oil cooler only (via oil stat)

which would be recommended?
i mean i know the oil stat will be sufficient for daily driving / drag use.. but i've been told that track work and its basically doing nothing!.. i wont flow enough .. the oil would be cooking!!

anyway, any suggestions?

i've also been told that the -8 coolers will be plenty for our engine (oil pumps are small)

any idea's?

i know v8's and the like go over -10.. -10 is MINIMUM!!..

have you seen the schemeatic/layout/flow diagram for the stock system?
Bisically, when cold no oil can flow through the oil cooler, when hot, the oil can flow (but doesnot have to) through the cooler, so at any time, I'd guess that never is more than 1/2 the oil going via the cooler.

A problem with running constant 100% cooler, is that often the oil will not get hot enough to get rid of the water that condenses in the crank case.
