Hi all,

Probably been asked before, and I have run a search on oil preferences, but there are all different preferences.

Basically I have a rebuilt motor with forged internals, cams , new gen lifters etc etc.

Anyway it now has like just over 10000kms and up until now has been using non-synthetic oil to run it in.

Is there any problem with running non-synthetic permanently on the motor for its entire life all year round, such as SL grade Shell 20-50 non-synthetic, along with a ryco filter?

My lifters are not noisy at all so I dont care for oils which make them quieter. If theres an objection to the shell non synthetic 20-50 tell me why... if there isnt a problem running non synthetic oil and you dont like shell, tell me what brands are preferable and the weight to use...

Look about 30 threads down and you will see one on Oils....

Mineral oil being sourced from the ground (although it is refined) has a lot of impurities in it. Bearings of turbos and engines built to fine tolerances (re: forged engines) require quality oil for the best lubrication possible.

Talk to your engine builder as to what oil he'd reccomend, also read the thread mentioned above.
