For those of u that don't know.. i cracked my toptank a few weeks back because i had a 1.3bar radiator cap on..

I got a brand new toptank and the whole core flushed and tested and all is well.. I also brought an original .9bar cap.

I've lanuched it a few times after my toptank was replaced and no dramas. Last night i went cruising .. lanuched and 'POP' i see steam coming from the vents in the bonnet.. Oh No? Yep.. cracked the toptank AGAIN.. and in the exact same spot!

Thing is i don't understand how it would crack since i've now got the .9bar cap on it..

What do u guys think!?

was it repaired or replaced??

what coolant are you using?

is there stress on the radiator?
is it getting pressure from the chassis which is causing it to crack there??

the whole toptank was replaced baz as u can't fix them once they're cracked..

i don't think there's any stress on the rad? when the rad cracked.. the rubber mounts for the radiator brackets also popped off and i can't seem to find them.. but im certain it was there before the radiator cracked..

Sounds like the pressure is being caused by something else other than the radiator cap. I'd look into finding out the condition of your headgasket. Leakdown test perhaps?

Yer thats what i was thiniking... seems that something is pressurizing your radiator.. and it could be your motor.

They should have checked the headgasket right away and looked for evidence of air bubbles in the new radiator before you started driving it again

i cracked mine top tank and i just crusched it back together and pasted some gasket good and it actully held lol and it has help for about 2months

Yeah, we blew a diesel yesterday via this method. Some valves were blocked causing MASSIVE internal pressure (this is a DIESEL too... built for it!) and basically it nuked the radiator and the thing overheated, warped and is now ruined. :/ Expensive too!
