Guys, I have sold a competition spec 4G63 bottom end and a ECMTuning chip for a VR4 to a guy in Perth. He says he cant find any one in Perth who is familiar with tuning these chips... and I certainly dont know any one I can recommend. Short of him flying me over to Perth from Adelaide, can any one recommend ( or suggest who to stay clear of !) in Perth. I'm in the dyno game here, and I certainly know theres plenty of self professed experts who dont deliver what they promise... Please contact me off line to avoid stirring up mud if you wish. I dont need my engine scrap metalled thru crap tuning !

Cheers Mike ( Adelaide)

most people that run ECM in perth are on here. We would all know each other and I am pretty certain we all do our own. I can offer some basic help on set up. .. I dont call myself a tuner. Although I have had some weber and efi tuning experience in the past...and..none of them blew up :)

did you install a start up tune....evo 8 from the website?

RPW has tuned a fair few stock ecu mitsubishi's. They have done quite a few vr4's. Haven't got mine done there thou.

I've set up around 25 VR4's, RVR, GSR/EVO here in Adelaide on my dyno with ECM chips... I have a pretty good library of tunes  . Yes , I set it up with a base map, but as we all know, every car is a bit different. The setup I've given him is "probably" good enough, but ..... it needs fine tuning on the rollers. The customer is smart enough to know to leave the serious stuff to some one competent in tuning.

Incidentally , the Evo 8 tune is a little risky in the spark timing map . For the VR4 engines, the amount of spark at 4000-5000 rpm is what I would call optimistic at around 14 psi. Customers that have had a crack at their own setup have always complained about the CEL coming on continually. No surprises why !! Tom from ECM even acknowledges this....

I think tenagah might.

As brian said, I do my own tuning on the road. Have yet to do a proper dyno shootout or whatever but had it on the rollers once and the power curve was pretty spot on.
