phantom knock

hi there, just wondering what i need to do to get rid of this problem, i got no help what so every on club vr4.
This knockin issues is really annoying me to the stage i dont drive my vr4 now, and am really thinking of trading it in

The knock count reached max level 43 when crusing along, fuel trims a really rich, o2 sensor is fine, fuel filter is just been replaced fuel running is 98 octance.

can leaks in the plumbing cause this problem?

Do you have noisey lifters? Do you have anything that rattles excessively while cruising?

Is your knock sensor bung?? Exhaust leak?

there are alot of things that could cause phantom knock whilst on cruise, you have to eliminate them all one by one.

I just did a simple google search, and it came up with tons of links.

yea i did the search but if you have a look there isnt much info that helps i have done what ppl have wrote i got a day off today so i am going to see if i got an exhaust leak.

I ruled out the pump because when dataloging i fuel trims are constantly rich,
fuel filter being blocked not possible i changed it maybe 2000KM ago

Hmmmm yes i will go through each possible case so this is an expensive problem isnt it.

How do i tell if my knock sensor is bung.

The easiest way to tell if your knock sensor is stuffed is to reach in under the intake manifold and stick your finger into the end of it.
If your finger comes out covered in sticky crap then there is a fair chance its stuffed.

I had this exact same proplem

Changed the chip to a ECUEdit 1, and didnt help, had a person who will remain namless, add custom maps (ones he uses) and also phatom knock removal code.

NO MORE Knock - well i can get 1 or 2 at times

Hey guys, well i got the exhaust checked i have a hole right before the cannon, this couldnt cause a problem could it. and recently my o2 sensor works fine for bout 10 mins then gives maximum voltage output afterwards. this would mean my o2 sesonsor is rooted right.

well i decieded to go for a data log run tonight its very cold and wet weather but interesting i didnt get any knock counts on crusing, only when the car was still cold but when it was up to operating temp no knocks this weekend i am going to change the knock snensor so hopefully it fixes the problem thanks for all the help to the guys who replied appreciate it.
