Hi guys, Fist post here and first time looking at doing anything to my Lancer.

Basically i currently have a 1995 Lancer CC 2-Door Coupe. Looking at the engine bay id guess it has a 1.5L 4G15 SOHC Carby engine.
Also to be deliverd Friday is a 1993 Lancer CC 4-Door Sedan. and again having looked at it id guess a 1.6 or 1.8 4G92 or 93 SOHC EFI.

The Ideal plan is to get the 4-Door and get that running, The last owner put the engine in from another car and before that the engine was running but since he installed it he hasnt managed to get it going... Maybe a few tips at where the best places to start checking why this is?

If getting that engine going fails the fall back plan is getting the 4G15 out of the 2-Door and installing it in to the 4-Door with the 4G92/93 Gearbox and Clutch if that is possible? If it is and i would need extra parts what are the parts im going to need to look at getting?

This is The 2-Door Lancer (It's not always that trashed, just went through quiet a big puddle on a dirt road)

This is the 4-Door Lancer (maybe you can spot something that defines the Engine from a 4G92 or 93)

Thanks for your time and hope some handy infomation and awesome help come my way :)

the 4 door is a 4g93 unfortunately i couldn't honestly tell you what to do to get the 4door running as i don't know whats been done. was it originally a gl carby was it a swap because the motor was a dud. are all the wires pluged in properly is the ecu any good?

without seeing it it's hard to say exactly whats wrong.

Like k said. Why it's not working us very hard to determine from just knowing what motor is in there. We need to know if it's getting fuel, spark, cranking, compression ect. That way we can narrow it down to the source of the problem.

Where are you located. I've converted my carby into an efi out of a galant having the motor, ecu run off its own power and not hooked into dash loom . Then changed all the looms with the turbo conversion a few years later so it all runs withought any splicing.
Also I have a 2L 4g63 na if you end up needing a new motor for what ever reason and don't want to put a carby in

A yellow CC sedan? interesting...
The 4G15 carby engines are the bottom of the barrel... actually the scum that turns into mould at the bottom of the barrel.
As the boys said, there can be many issues why the engine isnt running. Check for spark as number 1 priority then go from there.
Apart from whats already been mentioned have you ditched the old fuel from the tank yet? have you removed the fuel hose to see if fuel is coming out when on ignition?
Spend time in sorting out the 4G93 EFI running issues as its a much better engine.
By putting a 4G15 carby in place of the 4G93 you're going nowhere but backwards.

I shoulda taken a photo of what I did to my 4g15. Intake pipe off. And the cover on top of the carby filter I cut out so only those vein/ finger bits were left. Looked like a spider. Ooober cool :p

After taking a closer look at the photo that 4 dr looks like once upon a time it was carby best thing for you to do is go and get all of the looms from an Efi car you'll also want to find out if the fuel system was changed as the carby motors had a mechanical pump thus no pump in the tank.

Where are you located?

I also have a spare fwd tank with fuel pump if that's the case :) but as k suggests, if it was originally carby change your electrical loom (runs your headlights engine bay fuse box alternator ect) and your interior loom. Will make life a lot easier. Even try upgrade to a GSR loom because then later down the track you can run power windows mirrors ect :)

Thanks for all the fast reply and helpful pointers. Cant wait till the car is deliverd Friday to get started on the endless hear fark it will probably be :p

Located in South Australia, Riverlands.
Also what makes you think it was a carby beforehand? I will soon know once it arrives and i see the plate on the hood saying the original engine.

Yeah id love to replace the 4G93 with another if i can't get it working, but due to what I have and money wise I think i will end up dumping the 4G15 in and maybe continue to work on the 4G93 further and build it up to be a nice little performer then chuck it back in.

A yellow CC sedan? interesting...
Yeah its Yellow but not stock id say its definatly a respray job same as the interior retrim, to Pink which is now faded.. I cant seem to get my head around what they was thinking with pink interior and yellow paint?? lol.

Just another pic of the new purchase.

Fixated on getting that 4-Door lancer because anyone can say that the 2-Door looks like a little girls sports car where as the 4-Door looks way more like a guys car :p lolol

Screw you :p

Well the 4door is already half done, painted and kitted
It was deffinately a 1.5 carby in the past, as it still has the cable clutch setup on the gearbox, also looks like its using the 1.5 cam side engine mount, from memory they are different to the 1.6/1.8

Does it have a fuel cell or aftermarket fuel pump or antything?

When you turn the ignition on does the car make a sound out the back?

You can tell if its a 4G92 or a 93 by the engine number on the block

It's funny coz all 3 of us here have boosted coupes :p

Yeah but your Coupes are
A ) Boosted..
B ) Done up to a nice standard

Hade a nice look at yours EVL20T and id love to be seen in that. Its more so my coupe with its color and stock as a rock seems girly :p

And that makes 4 of us with Girly coupes :p

Yeah that cluster is a carby cluster. No rpm :)

Im looking at the Cluster and it has RPM on it? haha
Just left of the Speedo.

Cheers mate, took ALOT of time and $$ to get my car like that though

U can tell its a GL by the door trims, rear centre console, intermittent wiper arm, no cup holder, rear seats with no raised headrests and that dont fold down, cable clutch, prob even has a key in the fuel lid :p
