I had the car on the dyno and the dipstick popped out at around 16-18psi

so now I have to run it at 15psi because the dyno dude got worried about the oil

but I have fitted some new rubber gromets on the dipstick and it has not done it again, it was really loose to begin with and was hardly touching the sides

how can I check to see if the rings are fudged?

compression was 162-160-162-160

Thanks
Travis

leak-down test............

leak down test doesnt reveal everything.. my car passed a leak down test.. it was just the fact that it was lifting the head only on boost..

trav your car is just a 'blow by' problem.. nothing major..

we didnt get that far to make a power run but first result was 165@wheels on 9psi

the rest was just road tunning, a guess was 180-190@15psi

he said theres heaps more in it but I have to resolve this prob first he said,

I might be changing the computer to a autronic sm2 shortly, if the engine is ok

the seals where just rubber rings that fitted on nicely

my car pops the dipstick out.. but ive made a device with a hose clap amd a spring.. the spring is connected to the dipstick handle and the clamped to the dipstick housing.. so when it tries to pop up.. it just pops a touch and the spring keeps it down.. pretty cheap mod and works well ;)

I went to a engine builder today and he said it was fine,

just have to release that pressure out somewhere else

could I get a pic of your dipstick Jony, that sounds like it would do the job

Baz do you fit a larger PCV valve or just ditch it?

Yeah its just blow by. Mine does it - i have a spring clip like jon described. The only way to get rid of it properly is to rebuild (replace piston rings). But its not hurting anything except spraying oil everywhere on boost.

Stop it popping out or relieve the pressure...

It might not be blow by- I had the same issue and a comp and leak down test came up fine, so I removed the PCV and installed a catch can with filter to let the motor beathe.....

I will try that Idea next dre, what did you do with the inlet side(block it off or vent)

I hooked up the catch can from top of rocker(pvc side)to the catch can, and then other side straight to the inlet, it works well, but this does not resolve the pressure problem, but aleast catching oil now

did u remove the pcv and screw in a barb ??
pcv only works with vacum..
u need to bypass it completely

did this tonight and it seems good with no pressure comming out of dipstick

and I blocked off the inlet side too

but had to vent the other side of the catch can to atmo as it is a closed unit

If I do hook up the other side of the catch can to the rocker cover then it creates alot of pressure out of the dipstick, is this normal?
