hey everyone iv got a evo master cylinder out of my evo front cut in my gsr and im having problames bleed the fluid when u pump the peddle its not pumping the fluid through the lines is there a different way that the evo clutch master cylinder should be bleed?

iv had the master cylinder working previously but when iv gone to bleed it its not pumping the fluid through:fuuuuu:

un-do the nut on the slave cylinder and bang a brake bleeder on the nipple. get someone to pump the pedal while you keep topping up the master cylinder reservoir.... Once you have flushed the old fluid out or you hare happy with the pedal, re-do the nut up and you're away laughing.

Ive come across Frankie's unit before and some models can be stubborn, even when the seals are good. You can pump til the cows come home but the fluid doesnt move and push the slave cylinder rod out.

I remember undoing the nipple a bit and then place a length of clear hose on the end of it going into a container... then just let it sit there. Then one guy pumps the pedal and the other guy has to hold his palm over the top of the master cyclinder reservoir to fully seal it. There was a sequence of pedal on/palm on, palm off/pedal off cycles but cant remember which order until the fluid came out the tube. Wierd I know, but thats how I got it going last time.

I also tried pressure filling it by putting a nipple of an air compressor into an old cap and then hold it down onto the master cylinder reservoir and blowing some pressure into it. The air forced the fluid through the hose and should have came out the other end, but I dont think even this worked from memory? There are no blockages in either the hose or the slave cylinder. I remember scratching my head as it didnt make sense at all!!!

This is the normal clutch master cyl you usually see on most cars (has the clamp on the bottom if it). Its piss easy to bleed the conventional way.

BUT, his new one looks like this and getting a few people scratching their heads wondering why the thing isnt normal!! lol

The second one looks to be the same as the Brake Master Cylinder where it sits into the two rubber grommets.

Maybe it needs sealing completely. Does it have the squishy seal under the cap like the BMC reservoir?

Its got the same cap as a normal clutch MC with rubber seal inside. Maybe it is the cap not sealing, and possibly why the palm on top of the reservoir trick worked?

May be the issue, but i'm sure i've bled the brakes with the cap off before.

Doesn't make sense. If the rod is moving, it should be pushing fluid or it'll just pull air into the system?

Weird.

some times on motorbikes Ive used a big syringe....50cc or so. get a piece of hose that is a tight fit on the syringe and the bleed nipple.....this is why it needs to be a big syringe....once connected to the syringe and nipple ..crack the bleed nipple and squirt the fluid into the slave cylinder. keep doing this until the fluid reaches the cup on the master cylinder. takes ages but will eventually then be able to be bled in the normal way.

i dont think the master cylinder is fucked because we took the line off at the side of the master cylinder and i put my fingure over the hole at the side and pumped the clutch and i was getting some sucktion on my fingure

I've had this happen, I pulled apart the clutch slave cylinder, pulled the piston out and let it gravity feed down over night...

Fluid should flow through the lines by then. Keep the cap off when doing this.

Or you could pull the rod out of your slave and manually pump the slave with your hand to see if you can get the fluid starting, then do the usual pedal pump bleed.

Took me quite a few bleeds for the clutch and brakes to start feeling OK.
