100 psi from 3500 up
Did you port the relief side of the oil pump?

nah just cleaned it das about it....

freeway driving it sits around the 80psi mark

remember i dont have any balance shafts and a turbo to share the oil around...

i hope to never have problems with oil pressure again...... ever...

i recall some guys in the states with high pressure problems causing very strange bearing wear. Rule of thumb is 10psi for ever 1000 revs with a base of about 15 psi at idle.

Was it due to insufficient diameter of the galleries?,i remeber something along them lines..

Hopefully its in no way linked with any crankwalk, theres whole sites on that shit in the states, but i think it was a 2G thing more so...poor thrust washers/lubrication to them etc..

yer? damnz i'll keep an eye on it, but seems fine, Idle is around the 15-20psi so should be cools, i'll be changing to 10w-40 next oil change... that should bring the pressure down a lil

you are still on run in oil correct? That world definately bring up the pressure! Let up know how you go, if it is still too high, the oil filter housing can easily be removed and ported anyway

currently on 15W-40 soo it may be that.... but see how we go on the next oil change i'll get back to every one....

15-40 is actually quite thin already. I'd be porting or even playing with coils the oil filter housing to try and get the pressure down to about 80-90 psi on full revs/cold start. [/b]

i think everyone's having problems early in the year....

leaving for work this moring, i do the usuall oil/water/fluids check, comes out all good. so i warm it up for a few mins listening to some jams and then head off....... bout 5mins into the drive i notice an odd ticking noise when i apply a lil gas.... i thought it was the shitty old camery so i potted on. the noise got louder but dissapeard during deceleration, hurm it made no sense.....

so i drove my ass home with the now rediculously loud ticking noise, swaped cars and used my weekender to get to work...

got home bout 10pm drove it in the garage and started to diagnos the problem.... did a quick comp test with a old leaking comp gauge and heres as follows....

cyl 1: 0
cyl 2: 0
cyl 3: ~200
cyl 4: ~200

i freaked considering i the engine is only less then 5k old with perfect oil pressure checked and re checked tension ..... checked the valves they worked perfectly, pumped some oil in the chamber to see if it would kick up the comps and it did didly squat!.... only option is to take the head off.... so 30mins later....
