Hey Rob? know where i can get 4 EGT probes and something to read them?

Troy

Ahh nope!

Just a thought, when the really good tuners are "tuning" do they use a laser thermometer or similar on the exhaust runners to check for temp differences and individual cylinder tune?

some do, it gets good/safe results..the sensors and the logger are not to cheap though

yes well the easiest way i see to monitor the exhaust temps is 2 duel input multimeters and 4 K type exhaust gas probes. which should be about $70 each for the probes and $100 each for the multimeters that's pretty cheap really, the nearest thing to that is $800 dollars and it does log, but logging is too late!! I have a laser temp gun too, but in an engine bay at hi rpm there is a lot of stray heat and the accuracy is not that good.

Troy

yes! you like? really that is big enf for 20 - 25psi

and the turbo? your thoughts (GT3082 with power porting and surge slots)

Troy

It should make a respectable 280 - 300 kws at 20 - 22 psi and that is quite enf on the track! I dont really want to be heading for the tyres or kitty litter, If it was turning the tyres at 220 kws what will it do at 300?

besides it will be a bit of a hand full with that turbo anyway.

I'm going to post this else where but do you know where i can find so info/pictures of a spigot bearing converion on an evo gearbox?

I know what to do but just would like to see a pic so i can get an idea of shaft length.

I'm going for a raceclutch - raceclutch  I need to get this thing into gear at 7500 rpm so I'm looking at installing a spigot bearing to the input shaft to stop clutch plate misalignment, mine has been a problem for some time now!

There is a guy in NZ that has done it in his 9 sec evo3 and it fixed all the gear selecting issues and misalignment. I think he is changing at 9000rpm

I have is email so I'll hopefully get some good info!

thew only option i have heard of is ppg as they do a gear set with a longer shaft with provision for a spiggot bearing...good upgrade but = lots o money

yes i have the original Email,

Jim and I spoke at length about it, also tried to work out if there was any other way to do it with out removing the input shaft from the box.

I have worked out a way to do it but it is also a lot of work!

Hey Rob D have you pulled down an evo/VR4 box before?

want to help me do one? anyone else in the southern brisbane area?

I can do it but, I would like someone that has done it before to be there with me so i dont stuff around to much tring to get that elusive bolt out that cant be found! (if you know what i mean)

Troy

Yes, I have pulled one down, even put one back together. Weird thing though, after I put it back together, I ended up with a heap of spare parts left over that I didn't have before I pulled it apart  After all, who needs selector forks and poppet balls, it's getting rid of that excess weight that counts

Just don't do it til after rally Q ok!

thanks you guys! The pulling apart bit i recon i'll have no problems with! It's the reassembling I want to get right!

Gave the goahead on the suspension today full rebuild and revalve of the ohlins with a lot stiffer valving, front spring rate is ok so they will stay. rears will be changed to a 260 pound springs

Clutch will be ready for pickup tomorrow! just waiting for Dad to finish rebuilding the oil pump - those cams made a fair bit of mess.

So this gearbox? should i organise a BBQ Tim and we get stuck into it or what? The sooner the better for me as I need to get this motor finished and back in the car!

I think this current build will be about 10 gorillas spent!

Sooner rather than later might be a good idea Troy!
Time to rally the troops!
Mahommad, Marek and Craig, where are you guys???

After all the drag day is July 12th... 6 weeks to go!
For now all mine is waiting on is the motor mounts then I can get the turbo and manifold bolted back on and getb a new front pipe made up.

well me and mahommad did my box and i think we're experts by now lol:)

so when would you want to do the box???

another qld meeting/work on cars????

count me in as long as it's saturday:)

Ooh, I don't know about this.......I had mine pulled apart and didn't like what I saw, so I cleaned it up and gave it to a gearbox rebuilder.
The weak mans way out!
But hey, I'll lend a hand if needed. Although I carry the same disclaimer as brisvr4. :p Haha, nice one btw Tim.
So what are you doing to the box JET-GSR? (besides from a new input shaft) Gonna try and rebuild it yourself?

Who's rebuilding your shocks Troy?
I got to meet Murray Coote from MCA (aka Mr Proflex) the other weekend. God he tells some funny stories about when he and Coral Taylor were doing the ARC.
