if u get pulled over for speeding or something usually they wont check.
i believe they need 3 reasons to give u a defect notice so if they do notice one thing, u'll b sure that they're gonna search ur car high and low to find another 2.

I am a little confused?

Why would they need three things to give you a defect notice, is this the way in works in Victoria?

In QLD you get fined per defect and that can be as little as one. E.g Exhaust, to low etc

Yes, but you will be a learner here, and the tests are alot harder AFAIK.

perhaps its harder than nz,
but its still pretty easy to get it here..
250cc maximum as a learner.

I was browsing through ebay and noticed a couple of bikes advertised as learner legal but they were 500cc,does it depend on what state the bike is in or did they get it wrong? its max 250cc over here too

Up here in Qld we have Qride. It is a series of private companies that you can get you motorbike licence through, you can go straight from a learners to an unrestricted licence :)
The advantages of Q-RIDE

You do not need to hold your class RE (motorbike with an engine capacity of 250 ml or less) learner licence for six months before obtaining a class R (unrestricted motorbike) licence.

You can progress directly from your motorbike learner licence to a class R licence if you have held your class C (car) licence for at least three years. This three-year period may be accumulated through a number of periods that you have held the class of licence, but these periods must fall within the last five years.

Any periods the licence was expired, cancelled, disqualified or suspended (including SPER suspensions) will not be counted towards the required period.

If you obtain your restricted (class RE) motorbike licence through Q-RIDE, you can learn to ride an unrestricted motorbike immediately if you re-enrol in Q-RIDE. However, if you have not held a car licence for at least three years, you cannot apply for the class R licence until you have held the class RE licence for one year.

These advantages only apply to Q-RIDE learners.

Have a look here for more info.

can anyone vouch for importing a car from one of those specialised import companys,I usualy see them advertising in zoom magazine.from the research I have done so far getting a good selection of import cars to choose from privately is quite hard so I figured this might be an option, has anyone done it and had a good deal? My budget when I get over there will be 10k
