i bought my current turbo from extremepsi..

it's blowing heaps of blue smoke on idle and under boost.. took it to mechanic this week cos he suspected it might be my valve stem seals, but my head was reco around 3000km ago! upon inspection he found the head was fine which came to the conclusion it's my turbo..

i heard the turbo you bought was a chinese copy cos of the casting.. it was too neat of a casting in the rear end to be factory from mitsubishi..

your best bet is get one from kyp... he sells genuine MHI turbos for $1700.. dont tell me you can buy genuine MHI for cheaper in aus cos the place in sydney that sells them doesnt sell genuine MHI..

otherwise for a hiflow your looking at over 1k anyways.

or juts spend $250 and buy a TD04L from a gsr and slap it on.. return the car to stock and you wont have any problems ;)

Jon

I got mine from ATP....

It was brand new E3 TD05 BIG 16G in the box. he recommended swapping the exhaust housings to a 14b REAR to suit the 4G93, and swapped them for a cracked rear housing and still charged me 2k ..... :?

doesnt matter anymore cos ive since swapped it for the gtpumps rear housing anyways.....

send the turbo to gtpumps ........ and borrow a 14b in the meantime

see if you can get something done under warranty... they were pretty good about mine.

most places i know of dont offer warranty unless its stated.. they offer warrantee on 'hybrid' new setups they resell ie.. PTE turbos.. but on genuine turbos that they sell they dont offer warranty unless it was fitted to the vehicle it was from factory.. ie an evo 1-3 lancer..

but then again u can always try.. they can only say no..

oh and in regards to pricing from ATP.. it comes down to the case of who you know, not what you know.

Jon

finally got in contact with them.. they come with with a 1 year limited warranty so i'm still waiting on them for a reply with more info..

have a look at the comarision between factory MHI an aftermarket rear housings in the above pic.

Notice housing is bigger, the wastegate is bigger and the casting has greater nickel content. These cheap chinese turbos are a big improvement over the crack prone genuine units.

Notice that the copy housing has no acceptance for the flame ring. All Geniune Mitsubishi turbos use the flame ring. This is the easy way to identify a copy.

Meek has Genuine Mitsubishi 16G in stock (much cheaper than that)
also the GT Pumps copy turbos are exellent value, top quality.

it comes down to the case of who you know, not what you know

So true

Anyway, back on topic. Olly, how stuffed is the turbo? Maybe you can just put a kit thru it.

how about ag diesels in clayton,

they have done some mates turbos(and mine but its not fitted yet so i cant comment) with great results

got a contact number/address?

do you mind me asking how much? and what specs yours is?

It all depends if you want to keep the TD05h comp cover or not mate...

You could get a T04 front cover and wheel stuck on it.

Correct me if im wrong, but i think the limit with a TD05h front is a 20g compressor wheel. You can put a TD06h turbine wheel in an 070 housing too, with a bit of machining.

A G Diesel Pumps & Injectors Pty Ltd

These guys also do turbos:

nah
i want to piss the td05h comp cover off ASAP

i'd love a t04s cover

i just want something with a 3inch inlet, and 2.5inch outlet

and something that is good for 300awkw, so a 550hp-ish turbo

the td06-11 blade wheel would be good (i think... im not sure what it does)

ag deisel are a very professional shop...
lab coats and all...

i had them rebuild my tdo5 16g after kyp over quoted me..
but that was ages ago.

they are also a little nicer than kyp =)
if u know what i mean...

if i take my big 16g to ATP
how big can they make it?

how long is a piece of string?

mine is rated near 500hp ;)

TD06H-20G front.. machined out to suit bigger wheel

060 vr4 rear end cos its a 1.8

No way a TD06H turbine will fit in a EVO3 070 housing not enough material.

Please guys do not buy these particular EVO3 turbo's numerous customers have contacted me about these they last about 5000km's. I know they are cheap and tempting but it's a false economy you will loose out. These turbo's are made in China and the quality of the bearings is very bad.

The best way to identify them is the straight rod on the actuator.

Our GTpumps turbochargers come with a written 20,000km/6 months warranty I do not know ANY other turbocharger supplier in Australia who does that.

Mark, so with the EVOIII TD06SL2-20G that you sell, is the 070 machined out to 8cm or something larger?

Our GTpumps EVO3 070 turbine housing flows much better than the stock EVO3 housing, it is "as cast" fully ported.
The great benefit of this is it has the standard wall thickness where if you ported a normal EVO3 housing this much it would be quite thin.
We do not machine anything other than to fit the TD06SL2 turbine, the turbine inlet/entry is already massive.
