ok

I am after a clutch. I wouldnt mind knowing people experiences with what they have had.

Requirements
Has to handle 250+kw @ wheels
Has to be streetable, this will be in my daily
Under $1k (Less is always better :D)

I have looked at exedy and done a quick search but there isnt many topics on clutchs. maybe even make a sticky somewhere?

This is for of course Aspec VR4 4g63

I have only used Xtreme clutches. They have always been streetable and reliable for me...but then again, I am only 2WD. :)

yeh i just bought a xtreme hd clutch for my gsr.. but i only need it to handle say 90kw @ all 2

To suit what sort of flywheel?
Other than for a daily driver, does it also need to be able to suit drag racing, circuit racing etc?
Do you want the clutch to be the "weak point" of your setup or do you want it to break axles before the clutch lets go?

Haha yeah good point...sometimes its better to break the clutch than shear axles..which is easy done in some cases... :(

Well.. Breaking axles is the least of my concerns as I dont think ill get to that sort of power.

I will probably do the odd track day or 1/4 run but not every weekend.

Flywheel.. Well, Standard I guess, unless you recommend something like the Fidanza fly wheels?

yer....thats what i thought up until a week ago.

im using the excedy sports tuff clutch with a lightend standard flywheel, good clutch, no issues yet.

Check out the SPEC Stage 3+ clutches... I've got one in my car... very light pedal. Supposedly holds 500+ ft/lb torque.

Otherwise, one of the ACT 2900 puk clutches would hold the power but will be pretty heavy on the left leg.

How is the SPEC Stage 3+ by the way Mat? :D

I got one a while ago because they claim that they have a 3000lbs+ high clamp pressure plate, full-faced carbon metallic friction, high torque sprung hub and disc assembly, and the 4G63T model holds 500 ft/lbs torque. All this and pedal feel is apparently not much more than stock 8) Im still embarassed that I havent even got my car on the road to try it out so Mat, you're the test driver

Surely anything above 250kw at the wheels and you'd wanna be looking into twin plates?

A twin would be easier for your wife to drive aswell

hrmmmm. Darren, I think i had one in my last GSR and it handled 200+kw @ wheels and that was fairly easy on the left leg..

But thus why i am asking around to see what people personal experience has been. likes, dislikes, what works and what didnt..

TWIN PLATE

Hey mate I have a clutch for sale that is proven to handle that power and more.

Its a Quarter Master twin plate with cromo flywheel.
I am selling it for about 750 complete.
The flywheel is to suite 6 bolt motor.

If you are interested PM me, Post here etc.
Regards
Liam
