You're da man Rockabilly!
Oh, and thanks Matt, yeah 45 sounds like a winner....fills out the gaurd just that little bit more too.

Okay, while I'm at this (reviving threads), I may as well ask this too:

As I mentioned in my RVR Wheel Information thread query, I intend to round out my suspension upgrade with new rims/tyres. I am going to be installing Cobra Springs' RVR low coils on all four corners, and Mark at Cobra says that the expected result is 30-35mm lowered from factory ride height.

I am thinking some kind of 17" rim w/approp. tyres, but will consider 18" based on your responses (and responses to my other question). What would be the largest 17" wheel/tyre combo (or 18") that I can fit WITHOUT having to make any modifications (shaving bodywork, shock housings, spacers, washers, etc.) on an HSG-R at that height, and that won't rub, grind, or otherwise defeat the purpose (i.e.: higher performance/stability to match the new shocks/springs) of the new footwear? I prefer conservative and dependable more than dramatic good looks and aggravation (and, after all, it's supposed to be a sleeper).

Saludos (Chilean for "Cheers")

As far as lowering the RVR goes, 30-35 at the front is ok, but the rear lowered that much will cause a bit too much negative camber.
You could get your Cobra rear springs reset higher if they sit too low & cause too much neg.
These are my measurements just as guide. My rear rims clear my arms by 3mm btw & my rear shocks are offset to clear above.
Front Height - 690 to guard
Rear Height - 710 to guard
Front Rims - 245 Wide & +38 Offset - 18 x 8.5
Rear Rims - 270 Wide & +48 Offset - 18 x 9.5
Track - F 1540 - Rear 1495
Cheers !

Thanks for the response, Rockabilly.

Listen, the matter of the springs is a forgone conclusion - they are probably already in the country; I'm just waiting for Customs to advise me - so, is there any way to mechanically compensate/adjust for the negative camber resulting from the lowered rear springs? That will be my best and most readily available option, as I wouldn't want anyone here altering the Cobra springs.

Cheers

rvrhsr you can get some aluminium donut shims spun up on a lathe to put above your rear lowered springs to raise it up.
Try the springs you ordered & measure the height both sides. You need 28½" - 720mm from ground to guard.
I'm at 710mm & I should raise it to at least 720mm to save my 245 rear tyres.
Cheers !

Just throwing it out there but, would a custom set of offset bushes fix the camber problem? I have been kind of relying on this for when I lower mine
