Hi guys
I did a quick search and couldn't find a suitable previous topic, so hence this new one!

Seems like all the early cars I see these days run only a set number of different rim combinations that are relatively common.

Just wondering if anyone has seen anything very different (and tasteful!)? I'm getting restless with my current options and seeing if there is something other than the usual ones.

5 stud conversion is the answer...opens up a whole new world of options and allows for Brembos so a double win.
Evo 5 Enkies are a perfect fit width and offset wise and painted in the right colour look very good.

you should get the Hyper rev magazine for evo 1 2 3 . lots of wheel pics in there

I only have in 4x114.3
Oz Cronos 15s stock white wheels
Oz Cronos 17s in Grey
Oz Cronos 17s in white
Oz Gravel 17s in white
Enkei Tarmac 17s in white
Enkei Tarmac 18s in white

but 5x114
BBS Evo X
Oz Opera II 18x10 18x8

The key requirement is period correct.

Took me a while to find some wed racing wheels to suit the early Mitsubishi shape...

True. But the problem for me is that, as I've had my car for so long, I've got a few sets of 4studs. So I'd have to sell all that stuff (and tyres), buy/convert to 5 stud, then buy more rims. Probably worth it in the long run as you suggest, but too much pain for now :D

There's a couple of reasons why some rims are more common than others- the fact that 4x114.3 is somewhat of a rare stud pattern- there were fuck all 4x114.3 rims ever brought to this country! That, and the fact that some rims just work so well on the older cars.

I would love to see a VR4 or GSR run a set of these:

or these:

True. Seems hard to find our pattern here. Less so in Japan etc.

Also can't be too wide, unlike more modern cars.

I'll have to track one down.

That wheel collection though! Wow! Are the Gravel 17s the same as the more familiar 15" ones?

Very true. Nice to keep it not too modern.

I'm thinking Sparco pythons next. I remember a grey GSR on the cover of Hot 4s about 15 years ago that ran 17" Pythons and thinking that looked amazing :D

You're probably seeing old pics as there aren't as many being uploaded these days. A decade ago people bought what they knew fitted and was accessible locally.

There are plenty of awesome rims available second hand still, though they are drying up because the Americans, Canadians and Europeans are importing containers full of them and driving the prices up (especially Volks in bronze).

In aftermarket 4x114.3 I've got:

- Volk TE37 bronze (16x7)
- Buddy Club P1 white (17x7)
- Enkei Tarmac pearl white (17x7)
