I have the auto version of the VR4 4G63T in my Cordia

It has a TD04 turbo, and I've been told it may have smaller (390cc?) injectors than the manual version.

Anyhow, I've bought some 510cc EVO 3 injectors, and an EVO 2 small 16G
turbo & VL external fuel pump, which I intend to install shortly.

I'm only running the stock factory VR4 auto ECU at the moment, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to chip the existing ECU, or change to aftermarket, or use a VR4 RS spec ECU to cope with the mods.

I've been told by someone else that if I use the RS Spec chip with the Auto Spec VR4 AFM, the car won't run "100% Smooth" - is this true?

If I can't chip my existing ECU, the RS chip seems to be the best way to go, as I'll retain the drivability of a factory chip, but also significantly increase power using all of the facotry sensors at the same time. Plus it's pretty much "plug & play".

Can anyone advise me if I can just go out & but the RS chip & run it in my car without too many hassles??

Cheers

Im pretty sure your auto VR4 ECU will be a single board eprom (chippable and dataloggable), all you need is a chip written to your exact specs.

Im pretty sure the AFM would be the same from 5spd to auto VR4, so you shouldnt have to change it.

What your biggest issue will be, is finding someone good enough to burn you a chip. If you dont have much luck, email chchvr4 from msport- he knows what he's doing. If you do decide to get one off him, I can help you out when it comes to payment etc, I have an NZ bank account so you dont get stung $30 to send the money over.

It will run a bit rich, the RS ecu is made for the RS afm, which flows 20% more than the standard one

A mate of mine just pulled his AFM off his facelift E38a RS, and they're identical to normal VR4's AFM's. Its not actually the ECU made for the AFM, its the map thats on it. He replaced it with an EVO 2 AFM, they're alot different.

that looks to be the part number for a dual board ecu, could you please post a pic with the cover off?, as i have seen ONE MD128618 with a EPROM.

I pulled it apart it is a duel board for sure i have a single and a duel so i compared them. Yeah we slid out and rolled 4 times down Mapleton Range its bit f**ked so im selling every thing but motor and suspension e.g. the rear diff is stiil mint and gear box, some interior and the ecu
