hey, just got my rvr for less than 2 weeks and it is my first turbo car so im in need of some assistance.

currently the car has some air leakage. previous owner told me that the exhaust gasket was leaking and its not affecting the performance of the car. After driving for a week, the car doesnt seem to be able to hold boost above 11psi. There is 2 setting on the HKS evc boost controller (10 psi and 14psi). Boost holds well on 10 psi but when push to 14 psi on second gear, it seems to drop. ask the previous owner again about the leak and he said the manifold gasket might be the leaking one and not exhaust gasket.

Im thinking of doing a boost leak check if there is such check. need some info on the price on this kinda of check or is it possible to check myself. if so, how to? if not, where would u guys recommend? im in perth btw.

one day, my hand got itchy and i raise boost to 20 psi. when pushing it to 20 psi, the car was boosting normally to around 12~13 psi and suddenly a surge came in. dunno if its a surge but just imagine the boosting sounds became loud for 1 sec.
what happened there?

Car also running rich as there is strong petrol smell and i only got 260km out of 37 liters of petrol... which is really insane..
need a tuning for this i suppose.

Aiming for a haltech e6x but its quite expensive haha. another other options?

Thanks

Firstly, could you put your location in your profile (as per forum rules) so that people in your area can help you?

Also could you give us a full run down on mods on your RVR? What model is it?

A leaking exhaust manifold will effect boost level.
A small standard intercooler will restrict boost level, have you got a bigger I/C ?

Have you got the supporting fuel supply mod ?

Thats what i thought as well. There is also obvious exhaust smell in the engine bay.

The thing i dont understand is that, The boost is holding at 10 psi but starts to drop when it reached 14psi. I thought the boost would drop no matter how many psi its building up..

Nope, I/C is standard stock size.
No fuel supply mod. Just running 10~14 psi do i need it ?

The fact it has a twinplate would tell you it's a manual.

That thing would be a bastard to drive.

Your intercooler is restricting you atm, upgrade cooler and piping and see how you go.

Take your car to an exhaust shop and ask them to check for leaks.

yea not good to drive at all. always making screeching sounds while stepping on the clutch haha. People always give me the look as if my car has some major problem!

oh icic, what i/c would u recommend? yea might need to get it fix asap. during the night, i can see a little smoke floating at the front when the headlight shines thru em.

a little update.

Changed the engine oil about 2 weeks ago. as i mention earlier, there was oil leak going on but its only small drips.

Checked my engine oil level today and the level drop in between the min and max which is alot of engine oil lost. judging by the drips its not gonna leaked so much in just 2 weeks!

Help pls!
