4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I always wanted a lada niva, something about being able to survive a russian winter makes it seem so hardcore.

I've got a couple mates with Sierra's and they can be thown into anything pretty much. I'm helping one put a Swift Gti engine into one lol.
My sister has a SWB JLX Vitara she is trying to sell. Racks, bar and shit road tyres - 4K

I once drove OVER a sigma wagon that was left trashed in the bush near my place.

Wont' be doing that again, nearly rolled my car. Did you know a sigma's bonnet doesn't support a 2 tonne landcruiser? :( I mean REALLY MITSUBISHI. YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!@#!#@!@# :/

for cheap i wouldn't like to run a landcruiser of any vintage
the most 4x4ing people do is at the beach/sand were lights counts
and you don't need as much torque to move it
so the suzuki and feroza even kia sportage all have a low range t/case which can really help once ego overtakes ability
my vote vitara v6 i have lots of fun emarassing bigger stuff on the beach

At the end of the day it depends what your'e doing.

Hills/forest, bigger 4x4, more ground clearance, lowgear essential, larger wheels, preferably MTR tyres. TORQUE more than power.

Beach, smaller 4x4, ground clearance irrelevant, lowgear nonessential but preferred, ATR/Highway tyres on wide rims for bigger baloon when you psi down. You also want MUCH more -power- than torque.

So what are you going to do?

Sierras are cheap to run but are pretty crap on road. In the scrub they are the goods. Range Rover used to test their new 4WD's against them in serious conditions. I have been 4WDing in a heaps of different cars and apart from fording deep flowing rivers ( especially with crocs in them..) or in situations when you have to carry more than 3/4 people with gear, the sierra will go futher and do it easier than just about everything else.
