So got stopped by the cops last night...

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Dont know what happened to Macleod, but I wish there was one there!!!

You can drive your car until the due date expires, then you can only drive to/from testing station.
You get as many goes as you want. Its $70odd for the first test then $40 for every retest after that.

Basically tell your mate to convert everything back to stock johny.

even remove the camshafts? its got a lumpy idle but its running a factory ecu so yer... ive tried to talk to him about but he doesnt want to resort to removing them yet lolz.. but maybe he just might have to.

If they do the emissions test on him, then chances are the likelihood of his passing with lumpy cams will be reduced.

My mate had a spare stock VR4 engine and ECU sitting in his garage for moments such as that - his worked motor and aftermarket ECU setup would never have passed emissions testing, so it was easier and cheaper for him to spend a weekend dropping the worked motor out, dropping the stock motor in and plugging in the factory ECU.

Pain in the ass, but it got him through.

Cock heads the lot of them... This sux shit big time- haven't they got something better to do with there time... Fuck off and leave us alone!!

u would of thought it would be cheaper to just do the emissions test and pass it then stick it up the cops when he gets pulled over?

Whats the go with E85 in regards to emissions also, ive heard mixed things about it being able to get you over the line at the testing station ?

I'm not too sure about that down there Dan but this is a test that was done comparing the emissions from E85 vs Unleaded.
Interesting read. A few of the guys in the US have actually passed their states emissions tests with E85 and no cat!

larger injectors aren't allowed here in vic.

in theory, if i was running an ecmlink, it would be considered an "eprom" with a "locked tune". could i then temporarily lean out the maps to allow 272 cams to pass emissions testing? or is it much more complicated?

how risky is running E85 without a tune? possibly even a 20-50% mix with unleaded?

i know a few people that run a e85 10% mix with a few kw gain, and huge increase in milage. and a reported much cleaner running, been told they have been on dyno and all safe and all, but havent seen it myself as yet. but might look into it more.
easy fix, jus move to SA our cops pic on you at times, really helps to stay out of problem areas and dont do stupid stuff, but we dont have the proper EPA like the eastern states as yet.

Guys & Girls

Ancient thread revival, but i was going through my shit and found all my EPA documents. Thought I'd scan them and post them up here as a refernce for anyone who wants to know!

Documents include:

- EPA infringement notice received in mail
- Invoice for noise&emissions testing (full EPA)
- Invoice for noise only testing
- Tester worksheet (what they give you regardless if you pass/fail)
- Compliance certificate (what you get when you FINALLY pass!)

Cheers,
Alex
