Valve bounce, probably due to a very old and tired valve spring.
Take note those who still want to use after market high lift cams with stock springs :p

Eek!!
I must check with Dre to see if my springs were upgraded when the 272's were installed.
Thanks fellas. :D

Actually, while we're speaking of valves and springs......are stainless valves rubbish? I was told that they are.

The motor has 17% stiffer valve springs than stock.

When you getting it on the road already!!!!

Started it up today, it seemed weird to hear it actually running on all 4 cylinders :)
I let it get up to operating temp for a bit and then shut it down to do a compression test.
1 - 165
2 - 160
3 - 160
4 - 160

It actually seems to have picked up about 5psi in each of the other cylinders too :)

Good to hear your'e up and running again Tim.
Your'e lucky you can do most of the work yourself, would save you a fair bit in labour I would imagine! :D

I just dive in and learn along the way

I'm kind of the same with certain repairs / mods however when your car is a daily driver, it becomes really difficult when you have issues as you can't afford the time off the road.. Just ask me about it, cost me an arm and a leg last week just to get her running again!

I think these cars are getting to that age now that it's asking for trouble to drive them hard day in day out without having one hand deep in your pockets.. Ahh, the joys of driving modified cars..

will have to check mine after the rebuild, i'm hoping for around the 150-160 mark.

jack, i snapped a driveshaft on thursday night, if it wasn't for the missing oil seal it would have been ready to go again by 8.00pm friday

Thats good news Tim.
I reckon thats the only benefit being a Mechanic, I save a shit load on labour and parts....thats pretty much the only perk of the job.

Thanks for that bro.
Yeah it's getting there, so many things wrong with it. Kinda wish I never bought it, spent over 10k on it easy. It's a nightmare aye, nearly everything on the car is rooted and needs replacing.
But hopefully it will be back up and running soon, although I've been saying that for the last four months.

^^^^ Ok I take that back. The car is up and running and I love it.
It had just been so long, I forgot what it was like.
Thanks to everyone who helped me out! :D
