I know that I am a newbie,so this is all pretty new to me.But does anyone ever just meet up for just chats or tech talks or other social stuff as well as cruises. This may have been covered before. But i was just wondering cause with my shiftwork and a lot of weekend work i will probably never get to the cruises.I'm not complaining or whinging, just wondering if others in the same boat, and what options are around so i can put a name to a face.
I hope this thread dosent sound wierd or anything

My gsr has been off the road nearly 3 years :S so i havent been out in a while!! Hoping to be out and about in maybe a few months, so would be good to meet some peeps!

I'm putting your name down for the Dreamworld trip turbovr4...lol :p
Wait....I don't know your name.
Man you'll soon get to know that T4G QLD is made up of a pretty lazy bunch.
Maybe not lazy, busy might be a better word, but yeah it'd be cool if we could change that! Alot of new members from QLD have recently joined up, it'd be good to still know who is who.

Bringing up an old thread, so I can talk rubbish...
A few of you know that I've always wanted a sunroof in my VR4.
Do you think installing the sunroof in the following link would be something that could be done at home? - http://4gtuner.com/site/showthread.php?p=198859#post198859
I would probably need some help doing it too...
Would anyone like to put their hand up and offer assistance? :)
I just know that if I done it myself, I'd probably massacre the poor car.
I would like to put it in Marek's old car (pre-facelift J-Spec).
Also, Craig mentioned that cutting a hole in the roof for a sunroof would noticeably compromise the structural rigidity of the vehicle.
And thanks in advance for any advice/opinions. :)

mo, i have a sunroof that i don't want. you can buy it off me, or you could buy the whole roof and we can just cut your roof off, cut my roof off and swap them over.

Damn..that sounds even harder!
Jerome, you've done this hey?
Is it a hard job to get right?
Do you think it would be easier to chuck in that universal one?

What will stop the rain getting into your car?
You planned to cut it out anyway for a rollcage hey?
Mitch seems to know someone who does this stuff, so I'm just waiting on a reply from him.
I'd just rather go with something new because I don't want it jamming/leaking etc like our 20year old windows do! Lol
But thanks alot for your offer man, I'll definately get your help with it if possible :)

mine was replaced with an aftermarket one just before i got the car in an insurance claim where a bird hit the top of the windscreen and broke the sliders on the factory one...let me know what you want to do.

Wasnt as harder job as ud think...although all i did was watch Carl do it.
Even he said its not that bad a job. All we did was cut the roof of the car from rob
drilled out all the spot welds in my roof so all u take out is the centre piece. Just that flimsy piece of sheet metal. Place the new one in minus the actual sunroof and spot weld it again. Had a few people say theyve heard of it not lining up well after but according to carl its pretty hard to get wrong. Bolt the new sunroof back in place
ud have to take a screen out for that of course. and bobs ur uncle.

So yea it aint as bad sa ud think
Getting the screen out without breaking it was harder

Im sure carl would help u out if u needed
atleast hes done it b4

ill get him to give u a hola if u like

The aftermarket one would be cheaper to fit and alot easier from what i can see its pretty well just a matter of jig sawing out the hole for it and drop it in and wire it up!

probably take less than a day to sort it out. No need to respray the roof or weld anything!

replacing the roof with a factory fitted sunroof skin requires cutting out front and rear windscreens drilling out all the spot welds welding on the new roof skin repainting it to match and having the front and rear screens refitted. About 3-4 days work and will cost ya well over $1000 bucks.

Lads, there's a (tame) Mitsubishi cruise happening on 16/05/10. You're all welcome.
There will be some non-MMC cars aswell such as mine.
Meeting at Milton maccas at 9:30AM. It's kind of a Mountain cruise so my poor little Hundy will be struggling.
We'll be going though Mt Cootha, Glorious and Nebo.
It's pretty much an all day cruise, unless you wanna bail ealry for whatever reason (probably because the other cars will be really slow!! haha).
There will be at least one WRX there that I know of, so I'm hoping someone from here can represent MMC and show him the light as I can't. :(

Let me know if you'd like to come :)
Everyone is always whinging that there aren't any cruises. :p

I'm sorry, but Mt Glorious and Mt Nebo just don't do it for me anymore. And those spots are too popular with the fuzz due to the morons that have abused it in the past (and the bikers that wipe themselves our weekly).

It's a cruise, not a race. Like I said it's a tame cruise, as there will be alot of slow naturally aspirated cars.
Having said that I'm not going to force you Rob, but I will say that your car would fit right in. :p

Cool as Craig, we'll cruise up to Milton together then, just come to mine. Anyway I'll sort that out with you later. :)

Troy, I saw your car sitting there looking mighty fine outside of Craig's old work the other day.
Nice to know you drive it around every now and then, give the fiesta a rest. :p
Bring your fiesta, it will fit in better! haha
