Help Support 4GTuner:

take note that the pics of The Ralliart Prepared Colt Turbo isnt what will be offered here as the Colt Turbo for release here looks like a granny small car, not the above Ralliart Spec'd/Prepared Colt pictured

Going through the ralliart parts catalog for the Turbo Colt add 15g on top of the standard Turbo Colt to get the look and performance mods thats on that Ralliart Teaser Colt :evil:

Sorry for digging up an older thread, but i thought it was interesting.

Me... ive never owned an import. I just bought a brand new stock standard base model Lancer @ Mitsu, and the last car i had was a Toyota Echo which i also bought brand new 4 years ago. Theres people like me who LOVE the 'new car' smell, knowing no one else has ever owned it , driven it ... its a special feeling i encourage you ALL to enjoy at least once in your lifetime. Sure for the same price I could of purchase any number of 'fast' cars. The main reason i dislike imports is the fact that its hard to be unique in an import. ..... and to be honest, a LOT of idiots drive imports - they have a stereotype of their own. Sure imports are fast, and can be modified easily to produce more power, but gone are the days where ud look twice at Evos, GTRs, Supras, etc .... To me, imports are no longer unique purely cos whatever ure doing to them has already been done. Dont get me wrong, i LOVE a lot of imports, and do perve on every second Evo thats been tastefully, but would i own one? Probably not due to insurance costs, maintenance costs, and theres more to life than having a car thats goes fast and turns well. Id look at a new Hiace on 20s before any common grey import, regardless of how modded it was.

Keep in mind that sure Australia COULD bring in and sell locally a lot of turbo JDM cars we simply dont get, BUT Australia in comparison to other continents, is a small country. NZ get it lucky due to lack of import taxes, but crime and theft in cars is ridicuously high for this reason, its too easy to steal a car and strip parts. Sure it happens in Australia too, but i think the Government has been wise to limit what cars are imported to try and keep Australias new cars sales and manufacturing a profitable industry. Its also the source of many peoples incomes .

Each to their own I guess...... i realise 99% of the members on this forum are driving, but i thought id say what i had to say :roll:

Yes, imports are cheap, my wallet has no problem with that. I doubt that they have enough influence on the second hand market to justify the branding they get of ruining the locally made second hand car industry. I think the cheap korean cars are probably more the culprit there.

But if someone without enough money to afford a new or second hand, late model car you can pick up a fairly late model japanese made import which are usually pretty reliable (performance cars aside) and it gets them out of their run down, 20 to 30 year old rust bucket with drum brakes and no abs and relagates that to the paddock or the wreckers, then I think that's a good thing.

The more shit heaps off the road, the better.

Cant say i miss my econobox echo at all.... If i still had it (i traded it in) id probably of retired it to a paddock, or a dirt track and welded in a rollcage :p Sure fuel in the Lancer is a lot more, but thats a price im willing to pay!

u all know that a shit load of cars are imported.. prolly 80% of the consumer market.... bar the comode, falcoon & the mitsy 3something everthing else is imported or part maufactured here, ( i dont count gluing on of badges as manufacturing in aust)

too many boags love local shitboxes in aust for grey imports to make a diff! NZ has NO domestic car market! & it full of theavin unemployed low socioechinomic characters.. like a mini USA, but nice looking !

Na, NZ is a good country, just with a shit automotive industry..

Stop complaining about prices.

BMW is the sole exception to the rule over here that;

Car's manufactured in Europe cost MORE in Europe than they do in Australia after currency conversion!

This includes Mercedes, Audi, VW, Peugeot, Renault and yes, even Ferrari's.

This is only offset by the fact that we don't get anywhere near the full range of cars!
