Front shocks apprear to be a little rooted (car is displaying symptoms of "boating" lol)

What have you found to be best suited for the street?

Not looking for coilovers

Looking to keep body roll to a minimum but still maintain a good ride comfort.

KYB is a product I can get ahold of cheaply but unsure on springs..

All info/feedback welcome!

King springs! Part numbers can be found here. The lower springs take the body down 35mm (360mm front and 345mm rear HTG approx. - centre of the wheel hub to guard lip.)

RRP is $170 each pair, I got mine for $150 from Bursons. +25% increased spring rate, apparently! I was recommended them on these forums, and I will gladly pass on the suggestion.

I realy do have to reccomend KYB Excel G. Theyre pretty cheap and do really really well, up from that would be the KYB AGX, theyre supposed to be awesome.

The KYB Excel G out did my Koni yellows, i didnt like the Konis at all in the VR4, the KYB shit on them.
As far as springs, kings are good, but they wont offer you great performance as theyre usually suited to off the shelf road going type applications, springs minimise body roll, whilst shocks control the spring....to a degree.
Id look at the best spring you could afford, like an eibach or H&R, even the hotbits springs look good, theyre cold wound as well.

Call them if you dont see a part isted.

With the Kings, if you wanna get rid of the Kite stance their springs give, get

KCRL-29 for the rear,
and either a KFFL-80 or KFFL-25 in the front, cant remeber which it it, either way, its an AV Telstar spring.

I played around with ride height combos from them on my VR4 and GGSR for years.
Oh, and if you buy the KYB's, get the Galant GSR part number (for front), the spring seat sits lower on this shock compared to the VR4 one, and there will be more travel whilst able to sit lower, its about 10-15mm difference..and use a very good bumpstop, espesh in the front.

appart from what JAP63 said, the reccomended part numbers for the vr4 are KCFL-VR4 (front) and KCRL-VR4 (rear)

I believe I have kings at the moment. Just want to see what I can match with KYB to achieve good comfort and handling (such a combo lol?)

Good to see that KYB are getting good wraps from a few of us, for bang for buck Kane, you really cant go past the KYB Excel G, theyre supposedly a standard replacement shock, but I can tell you now, they do a very good job of it, and they definately were hands down better and tighter than the Koni yellows i Had, I was almost shocked they outdid the Koni's.

Props to KYB.

See what price you can get on KYB, if it seems expensive, PM me, nd I'll see what i can get them for.

KYB's are very very good. If you are going for handling rather than looks- the whiteline springs might be a better option. Whatever you do- DONT get anything that starts with P, ends with S and has a red bull with a helmet on as their logo.

I had KYB's in my RX7 and they were great.

I've got koni yellows and king springs in the VR4 now and they're really good. Reasonably firm but not spine shattering and nice ride height.

I had pedders springs and shocks previously and it looked awesome being so low, but handled like crap compared to the current combination.

My aspec had them in it when i brought it,drove like crap, way to low so it looked like crap and i couldent get a scissor jack under the car, done all of 200m on them then pissed them off.if they werent needed to hold my other chassis off the ground they would be in the bin.

Ive got the kyb/king and only problem was my first set died within 1000km,got replacments and they have been good,on the way out now but ill get them again.

yer i know 1 too many people who use pedders suspension shocks and springs and no1 likes like excpect for subaru owners cheaper then forking out money on coilovers

I learnt through experience that it just pays to save up and buy good coilovers, if your after a specific ride height you can change and adjustment to suit different roads, you just cant beat them, the performance they offer will also always out do a traditional spring/shock combo

I had koni coilovers at one stage, they were just koni yellow twin tubes with a threaded collar welded on them , them bloody shocks are so over rated, i dont know about theyre other stuff, but the yellows really are middle order stuff in my books...entry level KYB stuff holds a candle to it, and then some.
