Hi guys

I about to get a set of coilovers and was wondering what advice any of you have for spring weights for front and rear.

The car is running on 205/40/R17. Driven daily and on street but with some weekend work though very occasional...

I've been told 6-7kg front and 5kg rear.

Thanks

Sherman

That is probably a good starting point but ultimately it depends on the the dampers are valved to suit. You can't specify one without the other.

lol could someone explain what I should perhaps specify then? I'm not quite full bottle on what to specify either or what it means...like I can understand spring weights being 7kg etc but what is the dampening valve stated in and to what are its effects?

Whoever is building your shocks should have a fair idea of how to set up the dampening (and the required spring rates) to suit your requirements. If they don't, then go elsewhere.
You haven't told us what type of suspension you are talking about here. Are they Bilsteins that you are getting valved specifically or is it expensive high performance gear the likes of DMS, MCA, Proflex, Reigers etc.
