Hey guys thought i might get back to fixing my 89 galant with 88 vr4 engine conversion but got a few issues.

Ok i had problems with running on all 4 cylinders i tried everything but since the loom was so cut up pretty bad by previous owner i replaced it with a full stock uncut ecu loom with stock ecu, now the fuel pump wont turn on ( it was working before the loom swap).

Im not good with electrics lol but im keen to learn the poor thing needs to be driven, if anyone can help much appreciated.

Here is a diagram for a lancer, I sure the galant is the same.
Do you have any power at the fuel pump relay? (is behind ashtray on lancer dunno about galant)
Your wire colours maybe different, but the wire positions will be the same.
Check fuses and relay, then check what wires you have power at the pump relay with the key at run position

Well i checked the fuel pump relay and its fine its got power and u can hear it click but no fuel pump noise, im thinking the pump needs replacing :(

The lancer have a access panel under the rear seat, check for power at the pump connector, there are 4? Wires, the 2 fattest ones are the power feed and return for the pump, mine is black/blue trace for power and black something for earth. Doesn't matter, check for power on one of these wires when disconnected.
Works better if fuel line isremoved and in a bottle. As the pump won't fire if there is fuel pressure already. Be careful of spraying fuel when discon fuel lines, cover it with a rag.

There is also a connector where the loom exits the body below rear seat under carpet, on passenger side (lancer) I had a bad connection there the other month. Lol
If there is power to the pump and youhave a good eArth, then the pump is fried. If no power, check forpower at the relay on the wire colour that is at the pump.
If that makes sense??

I had the exact same issue with my Walbro 400

It was rooted!!! Pump makes noise like its working but does not suck up any fuel at all...

Fitted a 255 and worked with no problem.

Trying to get a replacement 400 :/ will see how it goes!

Also it could be a problem with your new loom. Old looks tend to go hard. So after 25 years of never moving wires can snap when jolting it around when installing.

My Evo 3 loom had that issue. The Cas wasn't sending signal. Simple solution was run a new wire and bingo it worked. Symptoms were fuel pump would prime. But wouldn't run. And no spark

Gianni, did that occur INSIDE the loom? Because I had a similar issue where a wire snapped.... deep inside the heat shrink. Just from being brittle. Was a bastard to fix

Yeah it snapped somewhere in the loom. Haven't pulled it apparat to check. I'm inns make a new loom one day anyways

Mitsu have a habit of swapping the fuel pump and aircon wires from year to year.
In the EVO's and oz CE's it's the only difference between using any ECU in almost any model.
best bet is to check loom colours as the colours generally are the same.
tick off the ECU colours against the old and the new loom and if two are swapped bingo.
Otherwise you need to get out the multimeter :-D

Ive cheacked everyhting and its all good so must be the pump. Ive had issues with it not working once before but ended up getting it going again.

Only thing is its has been sitting for a few years so im hoping its packed it in so i can buy a new one.

What fuel pump do u guys recommend? oh i wanna keep it intank

Ok after all that ill pull the fuel pump out tested it it worked put it back in so thats all sweet.

but its still wont start if it does its running on 1 cyclinder, ive tried diferent injectors still same thing, swapped ignitor modules still same thing and ideas?

i dont have to coin to send it away to get fixed so i wanna fix it myself

its just 1 cyl, ive swapped coils aswell still the same thing, I had a the mirco tech on it before and it was still 1 cl now i replaced the whole engine loom and now running stock ecu and still the same lol.

I pulled the sparke plugs out and only the 1 plug had fuel on it. So yeh i cant figure out why the other 3 cyl aint getting fuel cause spark is fine.

Is the fuel rail clogged. Run some fuel through it with no injectors. See if it flows through. Otherwise check that the injector plugs are getting a pulse aswell

Because if plugs aren't wet it's fuel not getting into cyl. So either injectors are blocked, injectors are not getting a pulse from ecu. Or fuel isn't getting to the injectors to begin with. Try swapping the k own working injector to another cyl. See if it also moves the working cyl to that injector or stats the same. If its the same injectors spear to be fine. If it moves then I'd say bad injectors.

Check compression wet and dry,
Then for rail pressure and pulse at each injector, or spray petrol into the throttle body.
All you need then is correctly timed spark to make it go. Check that as well.
Might as well check valve timing while you there

Well i ended up buying different injectors and it still has the same thing, Im thinking somethings up with the injector pulse but the wiring looks fine not sure what else to try here...
