sticky tape on the headlights!

can some one explain to me why japs put 'tape crosses' on their cars?? seen it heaps on drift vids, and pics:

why?? am i missing some important piece of info? or is it just to be 'siiiik'! 8)

mmm also dont turn on ya headlights with the tape on as it melts quite quickly, as ive seen people do :lol:

So if the glass gets busted it doesnt fall out everywhere.... the tape sort of holds the glass together for a short period of time!

they would need it to hold the indicator in if they are running no headlight like the one above.... on a cc lancer sedan anyway
