Gday just wanting peoples opinion.

I need to replace my shocks as they are really pissing me off plus atm rear gaurds are rubbing on tyres when i have people in the back... grr

Okay do i a: buy stock shocks from pedders or somewhere else local to townsville for the $600

or b: look into a set of used / near new coil overs for a $1000.

The vehicle will prodominatly be used only on road and not dragging etc so im leaning towards just the stockies. But the coil overs are like sexy and stuff lol , need to be able to explain and justify to the miss's why the coil overs may be needed.

Go nuts guys tell me what you think

i had the same dilema when i bought my gsr. i went with the coilovers, lets you adjust the height to where you want it, dampening adjustable. better ride imo. plus if you decide to take it on the track it'll will hold up better than the stockies.

check ebay

yes most of it is crap but sometimes there is a bargan.

or you can try http://justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=18597&cat=&page=1
cheap and can do the job, and full coil over.

as for the scrubbing well 1 you will need to roll the guard

2 wheels are probably the wrong offset

3 or the wheel and tyre is too wide.

I have 17x7 - 205 40 17 which fits fine with weight in the back. and I know guys with wider.

the other option is ... make your mates walk!

I also had a similar problem when I bought my gsr. It was lowered on pedders suspension which was a fair bit lower than standard, and on stocky 14's it was just a pain in the arse - kept getting defected, and would just scrape out everywhere.
I went to evo stockies.
Rides and handles alright for what I want, main reason I didn't go to coilovers is for ride comfort.... this is my daily at the moment and I didn't want the ride to be too stiff.

If I end up with another daily and want to track this car or something, I'll go to coilovers then
:)

lol funny sh*t . might not work to well as i brought this to replace my wagon as a "family" car lol

I have a set of those d2 cheapies in my car an the ride isnt to bad, an on the track they hold up pretty good for what I paid

For a weekend car Coilovers wouldn't be bad. But for a daily driver, flag that. Did that in my Mirage on some Bilsteins, was uncomfortable as hell and too annoying. My Evo shell has some standard spec struts on some Tein springs, when it's up and running i'm gonna see how they ride, perhaps replace the shocks with something like AGXs if you can still get them, but no way would I consider using the Tein type Flex coilovers I have going unused.

Yes, Evo I-III stuff will go in your GSR.

Clone, you didnt mention what size wheels, wheel offset and tyres you have?
Also have you done the 'rear bar tab mod' and bent the rear tabs up and made some more room at the back?
I think that if you're only going to use it for the street, then why spend more money than normal streetable suspension.
However if you do want a mix of affordable, streetable and trackable suspension, a new set of BC's will cost you a little over $1200.

Ive got the BC RM inverted coilovers with 30-way adjustable damper. 8kg/mm front and 6kg rear. Ive been very impressed with them on the road and at the track recently.
I drive around on about 2/3 damper on the street and the ride quality is nice and can handle spirited driving through the twisties, around roundabouts etc at speed.
At halfway its even fine when I have my kids in the back, but I drive conservatively like a grandma when I have passengers and only have a bit of fun when Im by myself.
I havent needed to reduce the dampening to its softest because IMO it isnt required on the street for my car and the way I drive it.
At the dragstrip last weekend I reduced the rear damper a few more notches and it helped increase rear wheel traction on the launch by getting the weight over the rear wheels and lifting the nose of the car up.
