"The spark plug thread"

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

May as well Brian, they are working fine. Did you guy's know about this? I was fairly pissed hey. I had bought them a while ago to go in the 4G63 but figured if they were just sitting on the bench i'd just chuck them in the '93.

What are most people running in their big boost setups Brian, just cheapies and swapping them out with the oil?

Yes mate I did know irridiums are crap.....having been burned in a similar way to you. I generally use NGK...but at a pinch will use the steel core champion plugs. change them at about 10k or when they give me the shits

Ok, recommended plug for CC GSR as per this thread is

CC Lancer GSR

Your Vehicle:
Mitsubishi Lancer 1.8L CC, MPI, DOHC, Turbo 4G93T
Spark Plug Part No. Plug Gap
Recommended Plug BKR6E 0.8

This is for stock 4g93T, do people go colder as they up the boost and add mods ?

So if you have added 60% power would you worry, or only when power gains are really serious (such as double or more) ?

I would like some ngk non resistor plugs with the m4 terminal, yes.
i have a set of bosch f7dc, they fit 93 and 63, projected tip, slightly shorter above the seat, copper core, non resistor, with m4 top. Fits gsxr1000 cdi coils nearly under the plug cover.

I used BKR6E's in my sohc turbo but i went to BKR7E'S when i went to the drags i had no real feel of increase of performance but was only running 10psi, Although i felt a huge difference going from BKR5E's to BKR6E's.

I put BKR6E's in, and then bought some BKR7E's thinking I would swap (as per EVL20T's advice), but I haven't yet as the 6E's seem to be working well so far. The previous plugs must have been really bad as the new plugs eliminated the miss (as hoped for) and all knock CEL's (completely unexpected but very happy!).

Not running much boost (15psi), and I've sprung another boost leak, so that may explain why the 6E's are OK.

hey guys just a quick one, when using E85 & high boost (20psi+) does the standard BRP7ES plugs @ 0.7mm gap suffice or do I need to change something (gap/go colder plug/etc).

Cheers

I use 8's in my evo 7 gapped at .8 running e85 with 23-25 psi

I'm running 24-25psi and BRP7ES @ 20 thou gap (0.5mm) this was advised by my tuner.
