Hi Guys,

This Wae here from Perth, WA. I purchased a black 97 RVR Hypersports Gear a few days ago from a Perth seller.

I would like to find out what modifications has been done to the 4G63T as the seller unsure what has done to the engine by the previous owner and I've got told it has double clutch installed. The car rego plate is 1CIC 593 black rvr, if anyone know anything about it please let me know. Thank you!

Wae.

if that was the one with mesh mags & cannon exhaust i saw the price drop on this then looked the next day gone, what did you finally end up paying 6200?

do you have any other photos of it?

Welcome to the club....

I remember a while ago that was sold with a forged engine etc. Does it still have any of this stuff???

If so, you have got the score of the century...!!

The seller was selling it for 6900 and no clue what really done to the car. I bargain it down to $5500 for it  . Bit rough on changing gears if u did had a test drive and oil leaks, and I dont think he has really take good care of the car as in maintenance but beside that everything else its is in very good condition and with a very good sound system. Done only 109000kms

I found the previous owner has a thread selling the RVR. Ummm...Im not sure about the *ARIAS forged pistons *Eagle Forged con rods and the *HKS GD Pro twin plate clutch. Any idea I can get it checked out byself lol silly Q.

I certainly hope I have got the score of the century...!! HAHA I was worry that I've bought a lemon evn though the gearbox/clutch are a bit rough and sign of oil leaks

Yesh clutz, the engine bay look exactly same as it is. The guy i bought it from he told me he bought for about 11k? last service was 7 months ago............ Is it normal for the clutch to rattles when the clutch is pressed down? For now I need to determine what needs to be done, how can I tell bottom end is still in good nic and no oil leaks?

Wae

You really need to clean all the oil off before you can see where it's coming from.....

Twin plates usually have a rattle- will be interesting to see if it actually has one or not- they are $1500 new though

Hi Clutz,

Ive been cleaning off the oil though out the day, I cant notice any leaks from the head gasket by checking at the front and side and as for the back the intake manifold is blocking the view so eyh......

Anyway I was so eager to check whether it has standrad rod or aftermarket rod lol....I went underneath the rvr to remove the oil sump then I noticed theres the transfer case, it takes me a while to removed the 5 big bolts from the transfer case and I cant remove the transfer case off the gear box, it did move a few mm, but it doesnt come off...? Did i did something wrong?

if you have taken all 5 bolts out...it should slide off. however some need a bit more persuasion that others so use a flat blade screwdriver to pry it out a bit.

there is another way to see inside tho......and with the sump on.

take the turbo drain off and put a bore scope through the hole. I have one {9mm} that should go through and can take video as well as still shots

I did tried using a pry tool, and it still wont come out. I was worrying if it did came off and I cant fit the transfer case back in haha. I'll try again tomorrow morning.

Yerh its a smart idea u got there. Have you tried it before putting the bore scope trhough inside the oil sump? How can you see? or does it has a light or somehting like that.... I had a look on ebay for bore scope they dont come cheap.

no they don't come cheap and this has been worth every cent it cost......a life saver.

yes it has its own source of illumination with variable brightness control

sump plug hole will only reveal the windage tray....

the out put shafts from the gearbox wear quite a bit and that makes these hard to get off. try turning the tail shaft back and forth while prying it off

Its a shame that the seller I bought it from didn't take good care of the car. Theres oil and coolant leaks, and corrosion build up :( hopefully I'll get them fix up by myself.

It is a shame. Hopefully you can do a lot yourself and end up with it schmiko like it used to be!

I can remember seeing this car in 2002 when I first bought my HSGR. It was amazing. Pulling some serious numbers on the track too! If you look at the internet achive - www.archive.org and lookup XSpeed's website from 2002 on you will find pictures and information about everything that was done to the car.

They also had a couple of white ones that were done up as well. Not sure what happened to them.

Your car was their top RVR though.

Cool archive site, Shorty :)

I found the xspeed site but couldn't locate any info or pics on their workshop cars.

So far I've found.
