update on cars??

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

I am in a bit of a spot.

Baz, JStyle, etc I need some input on the big pipes in and out!!.

I'm at the point of needing intercooler/piping. Planing on using a Hybrid type cooler - who would you use / where would you get piping? :?:

Same questions for the exhaust - need 3", turbo back, custom flange (its a custom turbo), blended seperate wategate pipe. Again, who?? :?:

Last of the little things (mount FPR, finish relocating of battery, finish remote mounting of oil filter). :)

Then (hopefully) start & tune, run in, then final tuning - JStyle, who do you use??? (reference to Microtech thread on ClubVR4)

Any advice & assitance would be gratefully accepted - I can do just about the rest myself... (wanna talk engine build Baz??)

Mike call me (0433 195 830).. i can do all the above besides tuning..

Tuning is $250 on the dyno.

Im getting my car tuned thursday so if u let me know i can do your piping and you can run on the same night as when mine is being dynoed.

Jon

hey mike..
if you need cheap intercooler pipes let me know
i can get alloy pipes for very good prices..
what turbo are you using again?

i'd use pretty much for outlet.. the same as the turbo outlet..
and from intercooler to t/b.. i'd go t/b size...

so if t/b is 60mm.. get 60mm pipes
if turbo outlet is 50mm.. i'd get 50mm

shortest route possible..
less volume to fill = less foreplay (aka lag)

as for engine building.. who did yours mike?
if my engine builder doesn't get a start on it this week.. im taking it away from him... any suggestions?

That's what I was told too. Aparat from serious machining/linishing/finishing/balancing, mike did all the assembly with his own blood sweat and tears.

hey mike, if clause doesn't finish my engine by mid next month.. i'm calling you okay!!

i just want it done and finished.. sick of waiting for the engine..

Thanx guys, will be in contact so we can organise a time to meet up.

The turbo is an ATP hybrid - TD07 / T4. Have found the flange plate I thought I had.

Baz, can't do the machining (I use Repco &/or Crankshaft Rebuilders), but can screw it all together for you. Have done a few 4G63's, have tools, have manual 8) PM when you know whats happening...

well i visted my engine builder
bumped into j to the style there also..

its good to finally see the block and crank on the motor stand.. not under the table.. WOOOOHOOO!!!

it has begun!!!..

but i basically gave him a deadline.. which by the first week of next month..
all thats left is to
-dummy fit (check clearences)
-machining of block
-balance rotating assembly
-assemble bottom end
-then assemble complete engine

once that is done.. put it in the car and get it tuned / run in..

sounds easy but its gonna be a bitch
oil's needed / im gonna have missing parts / wiring etc etc

i just want it running by next year.. haha
and painted also..

mike, did you torque plate hone it??
if so, who's got the torque plate?

i was quoted a fair bit to get one made..

my engine builder says he'll get a start on the engine next week (thats what he said in december)
updates please!
ugh, yeah. :D

I'm replacing my front cover/oil pump today, as well as the radiator, lower hose, putting my manifolds back on, and putting the suspension back in.

So I quess I'd better get onto it.
Racing again next weekend.

took some pics yesterday..
about 80% done with the interior
gauges are all wired in.. / audio is wired in (only 2 front / 2 rears running off head unit)... wolf3d handcontroller mount needs to be completed (black cover.. trying to make everything look factoryish... still gotta wire in the hazard switch... electronic water pump controller is in (glove box)..

also short shifter is in ... and so are the brass solid bushes (no more squishy shifting)..

besides that.. got the fuel pressure reg mounted.. apexi boost sensor mounted... xf stepeer motor mounted.. electronic boost controller mounted.. the fuse box is actually for the car.. (not audio, i've tossed the original fuses out coz battery is mounted in the boot)..

brake boost was giving me issues .. the 2 bolts at the front actually snapped off when tightening the nuts!!.. had to get it re-welded and then repainted.. (i painted it myself.. haha)

intercooler mounts are all done.. still needs to be painted (black in colour)
the piping route is much shorter.. about 1 metre less in piping.. but had to mod the radiator to get that to fit..

also abs has been scrapped.. (if you haven't noticed).. braided brake lines have been installed on on fours.. and also braided clutch line also.. (goodridge brand so they are legal)..

also fuel lines have been upgraded to -6an from pump to engine bay..
i'll be using some sort of BOSCH fuel filter (sports one).. and braided lines all round for fuel system...

and basically the engine bay is waiting for the engine (been waitinf for a long long time.. ) lets hope my engine builder sticks to his word this time.. i sorta threatend him to get it done.. or im taking it else where..
but honestly i would only trust him.. just get his ass moving i guess

thats all i can think of now..
im gonna be doing something about the wheels also (pullin em apart and painted the inner black or something like that)

i just want it over and done with..
just need the friggen engine..

i love my apexi stuff

can you spot the boost controller?? wheres the ABS??..

nearly complete

left side of engine bay (lots of silver)
engine%20bay%20left.jpg

right side of engine bay (more silver.. plus fpr... gotta make another washer bottle.. boost sensor is placed under it..)

still gott do the wolf3d cover.. not easy.. hazard will go there also...was thinking of knock link but i dont know if i will ..

unbolting all those nuts is gonna be a pain.. hopefully it will be worth it..

i wouldn't mind a group buy for a shirt shifter as long as it's not too hard to put in and obviously isn't too much on the pocket!

hey baz how come you need to take the bolts off from your wheels?
by the way i thought you were going to sell your wheels before?

When you do the wheels (from experience) remember to re-silicon the joins or it'll leak air.

Takes -ages- to do and you need two spanners or a spanner and a ratchet.

yeah i noticed
hopefully i wont have to brake that seal..
is it normal silicon?

i was going to sell em eugene.. but i decided to just painted them to make them unique..

as for shifters..
ill let you know what i can do

We just used standard black silicon. You only need a -VERY- small amount. Use too much it'll squish out the side all over your beautiful rims.

Yes you do have to break the seal. It breaks as some of the bolts come loose/out.

Well my cordia is still in the shop. My turbo is now in Australia, yay, so that will go in very soon. New heavy duty brake pads are in, as is the new clutch and gearbox.

Then all I have to do is die grind the exhaust manifold, dyno tune it and buy a boost guage and that will be it until I get some more money.
