I want to run 15psi and maintain the factory EVO boost solenoid setup (ie no bleed valve or electronic boost controller). The aim is to keep it looking stock ("It's stock officer I swear..!) but running more boost.

How do I do this? I've been told that I can run a 2mm restrictor in the hose that leads from the air intake pipe to the solenoid (which then branches to the intercooler pipe and wastegate).

Does this sound right?

Add any restriction to the line that goes to the wastegate actuator and you will slow down the flow to it,which would slow the opening action of the wastegate diaphragm..longer that stays closed, more boost you make, its better to meter air by bleeding it off though.

OK, so if I run a bleed valve, I'll need to plumb it into which line? The one from the air intake pipe to the solenoid, or in the line from the intercooler to the solenoid, or in the line from the solenoid to the waste-gate?

I haven't played around with this sort of stuff before, so bear with me if the questions sound stoo-pid

The turbotech bleed valve works better that the turbo smart and all the other crap you can buy at Autobarn etc. It comes with instructions so you dont fit it wrong as it has to be plumbed in the correct way.

you run it about 10cm off the actuator and there is always a arrow which way the flow will go

its pretty easy, but make sure you put some cable ties on the vac lines so it dosnt come off because you will see 30psi

fwiw, a $2 garden tap will do the same thing, and is discrete (small, black). best thing to do is plumb it back into the intake and mount the bleed valve internally (inside the pipe) so that it cannot be seen, as cops WILL check the line coming from the wastegate.

Another question guys,

I'm going to get one of the Turbotech valves, but after looking at the diagram that Richard posted, what do I do with the factory boost solenoid that's already on the car? If I block off the air-intake outlet and plumb the valve into the intercooler and waste-gate, can I remove the factory boost solenoid completely? as it will no longer be hooked up to anything.

Also, will the ECU see a problem with this as there is a wiring connection to the solenoid too?

I have one of these as well

Well, just purchased one from that ebay link. Hopefully it'll turn up before I go back to work and I'll have a chance to plumb it in and turn up the boost before life becomes mundane again.

i had one of them turbo smart incabin bleedvalves... it seems to boost spike all the time...

swapping over to a evc electronic bc

I've got an AVC-R sitting at home, but it was a prick to try and tune, so I've given up on it and am going to use a valve instead.

then id try and get someone too tune it for you..

they are the best, once setup correctly
