Hi guys, I started rebuilding a members EVO engine this afternoon and was fitting the balance shaft eliminator bearing blanks. The outer bearing at the timing case cover is fine with a chamferred edge on it that fits nicely into position ready to be tapped in, however the inner bearing for inside the block that came with the kit isnt chamferred and is proving to be a bit of a bitch to get in. In fact it looked more like a cut off piece of stainless steel pipe than a normal bearing like the outer one  I havent had a problem with these inner ones before and so am thinking maybe we got a dud blank in the kit. Can someone please let me know where I can get another on its own ASAP? or a part number for it? (4G63 had the oil hole in the bearing and I have just turned them around 180 degrees in the past, and some kits come with blank 4G61 bearings which are the same bearing with no hole..... so either one) cheers. Rob

Thats right 4g61 parts are used as the eliminator kit. I got my bits through my local Mitsu parts.

That's what I was afraid of cause when I ring them up they'll want a part number  Umm anyone got a part number for either?

or you could reuse the one you have and just rotate it 180 degrees so the hole isn't near the gallery... take it out, rotate it and put it back in

Yeah I would have but all the old bearings have long gone and been thrown away as an eliminator kit has been on the cards from the onset. Engine is back from the machine shop and ready to go. Getting a genuine Mitsu bearing for $28 tomorrow so I know I get a 'proper' chamferred bearing to put in its place instead of paying $45-$50 for another eliminator kit which may consist of the same dodgily cut rear bearing.

the mitsu bearing will have a hole in it for the oil gallery (i know because i used genuine bearings as well), just rotate it like i said before

they dont really sit in right once they have been in and out already

Yeah depends on how hard you hit them in! I'd rather not use existing bearings and have always purchased eliminator kits consisting of either new original 4G63/4G61 bearings. Most of the time like Dougmo says, the old ones are in no state to be reused as they can end up out of round/damaged and vibrate loose.
