Anyone got any specs on the standard CCA rating of a VR4 battery?

Should I go for a higher CCA if i'm running a decent sized stereo?

Opinions on Odyssey/etc dry cell units (for boot mounting)?

...

My battery died, time to replace it. Time to do it properly.

Boot mounted, so it's going to end up being dry cell for legal reasons, probably get gold terminals/etc at the same time. Rewire stereo etc. Need opinions on the above, what CCA rating everyone uses? Which brands are good, which suck. Where to get stuff cheap :)

Got quoted like 400 bucks for a 600CCA Odyssey Dry cell or something which I think is excessive. Anyone know where to get a decent dry cell cheaper?

Anything from 300 to 400..

Thats about the going rate for a DECENT dry cell these days... There is also a brand called Optima... They are excellant as well. A but bigger than the Odyssey ones but they are better battery I believe....

Drisco

i say the bigger the better =)
but 400 should do the trick

as for brand.. who knows

i've been told calcium batteries are good..

Been searching all over the web, gonna try a yellow top Optima Dry cell.... 750 CCA and don't weight much/aren't too big. Hopefully it'll do the trick! ... I have a stereo to power :p

(There's no issue putting in a battery with way more CCA than needed is there?)

I has one of these (got 1 as was in boot and rallying).
Lasted 1mth after warranty expired and wouldnt hold charge.
Got some normal battery now :(

Got an 800CCA Odyssey meself. Small (for its power), no heavier than a standard battery...

go the oddysey 650cc..
probably the lightest and smallest for our car..

around $260.00 each i think..

see if u can get more for less (2 or 3 batteries)

Odyssey 650 I got quoted 390 each, 370 each for 2+.

Odyssey 900 I got quoted 470 each, no discount for more.

Optima Yellow top I got quoted 302 each. I went with this one. Hope it's not a lemon like sloths. The internet as a whole seems to be rather kind on them (no glaring negative opinions).

wtf?
ur getting ripped!!..

i got quoted 259 for the 650cca...
3 years warranty..

i guess ill get that then ay..

To LEGALLY mount a battery in your boot, it must be a dry-cell. At least in Victoria. So yes, I -need- one.

Thanks baz, I already knew I was getting ripped but I don't live in melbourne. Gotta pay the premiums if you live outside a metro area.

I haven't got a clue what this optima warranty is like, we'll have to wait and see. When I go to pick it up etc.
