hey all Dre told me to post up what my problem is in here

some of you may know I have a 5 door lift back GSR RS AWD

It has a VR4 J-SPECK EVO 0 engine

I have used the EVO 0 engine loom because the original one didnt come with the car (4g61t engine and wiring loom removed)

Any way I am having trouble wiring up the engine to the GSR dash loom

all of the accessories are working , lights, horn, indicators and dash and all that.

when i turn the key to crank all i get is the ISC motor winding in/out
the gold relay click on/off and all the lights on the dash turn on

but i have no cranking at all. If i run a wire dirrect to the starter the bitch cranks. I am not the best at electrics so i thought some one here may have done the same convo or know of some one

the boys i know who have done the same convo are using the original 4g61t engine loom on the vr4 engine

I have been told to just go out a get an after market E.C.U.

but i shouldnt have to not just to get it running please help guys I know i need it.

ahhh i was gonna say tap a wire from the starter motor but you have said that . my mum car had the same prob !! turns out it was the immobiliser (spelling) so yeah didnt crank over had to remove the unit and was all good. sorry if that wasnt much help

LOL

Dood
you have to run 2 wires from the button.

One to the battery.
One to the startermotor.

It wont be difiicult in any way shape or form.

The Push-to-start buttons are legal providing the car ignition still needs to be turned to the "on" position to undo steering lock/power everything. Push-to-start is standard in Honda S2000, BMW M3 (new) series, (some) Ferrari, Lamborghini Gallardo, Maserati (I forget which one) and a few other high class babies.

I'm not sure if this is the same for the CB lancer - but i just did the VR4 into CC lancer conversion.

Look at the plug which goes into the ignition barrel
There will be a couple of wires here - one which has 12v ON and one with 12v START (also should be a 12v constant and an ACC 12v too)

You need to follow back from this plug in the ignition barrel over toward where the ecu sits. Under the glovebox/ecu area there should be two plugs - one which has 3-4 large gauge wires and one with 20 or so small gauge wires. You need the first one. Check connection between this plug and the ig barrel - you can do this with a mutimeter set on resistance (or beep is better).

The wire from the ignition barrel which goes to this plug (black with white stripe on mine) is the ignition (ON) 12v feed. There is also two other wires - a black with yellow stripe - this goes to the starter motor so you need to check that it is actually connected. The third wire is black with blue stripe which is the fuel pump 12v feed.

These wires go through the MPI Relay - little metal box looks kinda like a mini ecu and off to the respective outputs.

You need to make sure that:

The 12v ignition is connected between the ignition barrel and plug - if you have interior power then it will be.

That the MPI relay has a 12V feed from the battery.

And that the starter motor wire (black with yellow) actually goes to the starter motor.

This photo shows the plugs -

Like I said before - this was on a CC lancer so not guarantees but I hope it helps - and that you have understood what I am trying to say.

Cheers Jez
