Weird hole in air intake piping.

The hole that im not pointing goes to the oil catch can and the hole im pointing has a pipe that link it to the atmosphere..
Wouldnt this suck in unfiltered air??


This hole also suck in unfiltered air.. anyway i did a dodgy cover up for the time being.

Also, i have a serious oil leak.. after 2~3 weeks of driving, the oil drop below the min level.. Went under the car for a visual inspect and oil was everywhere. Hard to pinpoint the exact location.. weird thing is the oil had even covered the mid pipe of the exhaust system!

i think the turbo is leaking oil.. checked the intake side of the turbo and the wall was covered in sticky black substance. Gave the turbine a spin and tried moving it around but not much movement. There was smoke but only black smoke. Gave it a hard rev and the car backfired.

Yes those holes would be sucking in unfiltered air - however they can be useful. You may want to bleed a boost controller back in to your intake, and as pointed out one usually runs to the rocker cover breather (or catch can in your instance). Im assuming that you are using an externally venting BOV? Best bet is to block these holes up.

Your oil leak sounds bad. You really need to clean it up and find out where the oil is leaking from. Is it wet oil underneath the car, or build up from years of driving?

one should be a fitting with a hose going back to the rocker cover, and the other is most probably where a boost control solenoid should plumb into....

having them open is not good- not so much the un-filtered air, it's the un-metered air that i'd be worrying about.

fresh oil is leaking out. just booked my car in tmr for a repair.. hope it wont cost a bomb.

the boost control had all its pipes connected. the hole (2nd picture) got no socket or anything to connect to...

the first hole is just a weird hole connected to a pipe and the pipe links to no where...

yea too much "illegal" air flowing in haha.

to pin point the oil leaks give it a good degrease top and bottom, get all the oil off it etc even if you have to get under with some rags and wipe it all off, then get a big bit of cardboard and stick it under the engine and leave the car running for about 10mins, then get under there and see where its coming from.

went to the mechanic today and confirmed the turbo is leaking oil. might be from oil seal but will confirm it on monday.

just a qns, would a evo 7 turbo fit in a rvr?

As for the holes, had consulted the mechanic. looking at picture 1, there is 2 holes and 1 is already connected to the oil catch can and the other 1 is redundant.

as for the hole in picture 2, the hole is redundant.
