Just finished putting new brakes on my lancer ,all good driving to wash it after not driving it for 2 weeks then a massive rock on the road came out of nowhere smashes my sump and my fuel tank ,but i thought at the time it just hit under the car. Then the car just stopped no oil light just battery light came up now its fucked wont start just clicks once,i think it has seized the motor :fuuuuu:

ah fuck man thats crazy! Where did that happen?

My Mrs hit a big rock in her old Daewoo and put a hole in the fuel tank too, lost a full tank of fuel all over the road.

Luckily didn't hit the sump though.

If you need a hand pulling the engine apart/out etc just let me know, me and Dion can bust over and help mate.

best of luck hey.

yeah dont really know if the motor is fucked yet..have to wait till i pull the sump off ....if it wont start thats pretty much a sign its seized right ?

So you think the engine might have seized because of complete oil loss, as a result of the sump leaking oil everywhere after the rock hit it?

That's terrible luck. Sounds like something that might happen to me!

Friend hit a rock driving out in the country.
Car was totaled, 2 passengers nearly killed.
All medical/accommodation paid for and a new car thanks to compro insurance.

Insurance cover ? Really I might have to check into this.....don't think it could be the starter motor but I'll check when it's on a hoist

If you hit a rock and caused catastrophic engine damage, It's covered by comprehensive insurance. The rock is an obstruction that theoretically shouldn't have been on the road, so providing you have legal ride height of 100mm+ ground to crossmember, you will be covered for the damage if you have comp insurance. Just have to pay excess.

Exactly.
When my mate hit a rock the RTA or whoever was in charge of the road was out there straight away with a road crew. They took the matter very seriously.

When I was in adelaide a few months ago in the WRX, I went screaming up Gorge Gully Rd in the hills and in one of the passes half the side had collapsed during rain. I rang the cops and they had roads crews out there in something like 20 minutes.
So yeah, road obstructions are taken quite seriously.

Spoke to JHH today they said I'll be looking at around 7k dunno if I wanna spend that ...... Should I sell the car or keep it and spend the money
