hi
my head gasket is blown on a japspec 4g63t i need a replacement and im goin geniune mitsy, my problem is i was given this part number MD183808 by mitsubishi and there is none in the country 3 week wait apparently from japan.while i was searching through the threads it seems most people are using this part number
MD 349 347 for their HG, does anyone know what the difference is or if i can use this HG as they in the country.

any help is appreciated

why are you going genuine? i run cometic MLS with arp head studs and have never blown a gasket. 2 day turn around from your local supercheap

I wouldn't be throwing a MLS headgasket at an engine that hasn't had the block and head surfaced properly for it. You run the very real risk of pushing coolant otherwise.
What sort of boost are you looking to run with it?

ACL Monotorque - BS120MT (Supercheap, Autobarn, Repco etc etc)

It's pretty much the same as a stock HG, but fibre rather than graphite. Mine held up with 20psi behind it on stock headbolts for ages.

i was goin to go geniune because i read oin another thread that they were the most reliable and that some people had dramas with the cometics leaking. i am aiming for around 18psi do you reckon the composite HG will hold up o.k, hopefully wont have to get any machining done but havnt pulled the head of yet to check if its warped or anything fingers crossed,

thanks guys

I always run Mitsu triple Layer Evo 3 headgaskets. Very good gaskets, highly recommended, but as Tim stated, without a block and deck face you are probably going to leak coolant. They simply don't have the ability to take up any tolerances in the facings. If it's not decked and faced then just run a Cometic Fibregasket will hold 18psi, just make sure you use good head bolts or studs and torque down correctly.
