Hi guys, I'm still bewildered how Mitsubishi offered the UF Nimbus between 1992-1998 with both the 4G64 8 valve or 16 valve SOHC EFI engine.

I just bought a Nimbus (manual gearbox thank god) with a smokey and tired old motor and awaiting it to be delivered via transport tomorrow. Thing is, I bought a replacement 4G64 motor today and it is interesting to note that it is a 6 bolt... but doesnt look anything like my engine.

Both setups look similar to me but not sure which is 16 or 8 valve at the moment. One has the dizzy on the driver's side of the car and the other has the dizzy on the passenger side of the car.

Either way I'll be left with a 4G64 bottom end I can play with later lol...

cheers

Rob

no good rob, you need a late 7 bolt 8 valve (i thought there was only 8 and 16 valves in these)to fit in there.

the dissy wont fit etc...

Yeah I figured out today after the Nimbus was delivered that the engine currently in the Nimbus IS actually a 16 valve (it said it on the rocker cover lol) see the pic attached of the neglected engine bay lol.

The engine the wrecker supplied me with must probably be the 8 valve motor then (it has a 6 bolt crank). I rang the wrecker this afternoon and sent some pics and he is going to try and locate me a 16 valve engine ASAP so I can just throw in as a direct replacement!

There are some differences between the 2 motors that could probably be sorted out but why would I throw a lesser quality engine in when I specifically asked for a 16 valve and paid for it including delivery lol.
