Going on Victorian rules, say you wanted to turn right out of say a carwash, or a servo, and theres a traffic island there, you know how the white line kinda splits in 2 around the island? Is that considerered 'Double lines'? and is it illegal to turn right over them? as i always thought the 'crossing double lines' rule only applied for overtaking.

In ballarat all the exits onto arterial roads are left hand turn only but MARKED like that.

I think if the road you're turning into is two lanes one way, two lanes the other then yeah you can only go in the direction of traffic on your side (IE Left hand turn only)... that seems to be the way things are marked out here.

As for it being a law... i really don't know :(

yeh it doesnt sound right, im gonna look into it, coz its a 3point fine, and if i cop that it means loss of licence and forfit of job, basically completely fucking up my life at the moment. not cool. and all over a right hand turn.

Did you get caught? Or not.....?

as far as I know, you're not allowed to cross double lines under any circumstance

Yeah but surely if you had the slightest opportunity to do that, they'd have a "no right turn" sign out of the servo??

had another look troday, as i wasnt really paying attention to what the lines looked like last night obviously, the lines i drove over where proper double lines, well before they split around the island, having said that, they are opposite the diy car washes entry and exit, meaning people cant turn right into or out of the carwash?! a cop could sit there all day and make his entire years salary out of the people that are going over those lines.

Need: 1. bucket of black paint/tar.
2. paint brush
3. A lot of balls...
Method: paint out the double white lines then take pic of it for evidence....

Problem solvered

thats actually not a bad idea

in qld you are allowed to cross a solid double white line to enter or exit from the road, we used to get the pigs giving us shit all the time because they decided to paint double lines outside our house...if it is the same down there then you are entering the road from the car wash and should be fine

Surely since it's only a minor offence you can get off without loss of points, especially since you'll lose your job over it.. talk to the judge, it's their job to enforce the law not ruin you.

Double white lines cant be crossed for any reason other than to avoid a hazard. How far were the lines spaced apart?? pics???

im prob gonna go to the police station tomorrow and see what they think bout it, if what u said is true, ill take it to court.
no offence buddy, but the courts will decide in favour of the law, so ud prob be wasting sweet cash if u take it to court.

yeh i was only gonna take it there if it looks like the cop may have been wrong, but seen as its looking like i was in the wrong, i know i wont have a leg to stand on so wouldnt bother, just deal with it. everything happens for a reason so they say. so im gonna have to try and make the best of a bad situation, at least i can still take my car to race tracks, so ill get to drive every now and then :D
