Help Support 4GTuner:

Nice work, hope you get a fresh motor out of it. Is bullshit customer service - i might look elsewhere in future for insurance.

I have to really thank Dan at Springy Motors for helping me out. Since he knows the car pretty well, he knows what it was like before the accident and before it went in for repairs.

The assessors rang him numerous times and apparently tried to put words in his mouth in relation to how the damage was caused to the motors, but it seems like the message got through eventually!

I would have been a shag on a rock without his help, so cheers!

But yeah, customer service from the insurance company has been pretty bloody appalling. It was only when I contacted the ombudsman and consumer appeals that I got taken notice of.

This is the first time I've had to make an insurance claim, I hope its not this much of a pain in the ass everytime.

I really need to learn how to set up the valet mode on my wolf too!

i believe it allows you to set a rev limit, so you could set it to 2500rpm or something so nobody can thrash you car while its at a workshop.

I'll show you how to do it next time Matt.
Rev limit the sucker to 1500 rpm LOL.

You could also PIN number the wolf so they cant start it. (Only let them work on the car, but not drive it in or out.

Apart from that, take it to a shop that you can trust.

If you want to change insurance companies, try Shannons.

Valet it . 2000rpm rev limit.. turn off the boost. Atleast if it is drivable for them to get it on/off trailers, in the booth out whatever. And if they say "Your car wont go past 2000rpm" you can tell them "Why would you need to?" Also works when leaving your car with valet parking. rev limit it and no boost. makes them not want to take it for a drive.

Baz, I have tried Shannons, but they won't insured me because I don't have the car in a Garage.

I tell you what, I'm itching to get the car back on the road now!!!!

Hey, Why did you even tell them that its not garaged.. you have a garage.. Just because the CAR doesnt go in there. but it CAN be garaged ;)

I am with LSV (Lumley Special Vehicles) and have been for many years, well, they were vigil before and another company. Many give them a shot..

I used to be with Vigil, but before I turned 25, they just cancelled my insurance because they changed their policy and would'nt insure under 25's.

Just Car just got back to me with their quote. They got a quote of $5700 inc. GST from Techsport but its not really itemised. They also want me to pay for 30% of the parts, which I can kind of understand, but I'm still a bit skeptical about them getting their own repairer to do the work. I'd rather pay a bit extra and get someone I know to build the motor and have the piece of mind that shortcuts weren't taken on it.

techsport will be good if they rebuild your motor ...

like olly said, you don't hear many bad stories about them

I don't doubt techsport at all, I just doubt the people who will be giving them orders. I spoke to Jeff today and he's going to re-do his quote with a bit more detail, hopefully we'll cut out of the middle man aswell and have the car go straight to either Techsport or Springy Motors, not to some other dude who is going to get a grand for pulling out the motor and bolting it back in, and send everything else away for someone else to do.

I hope that made sense, I've had a few beers :p

You should be able to get the insurance company to (after getting there quotes for how much it is going to cost to fix the car) write you a cheque for an agreed amount and they will just send you on your way and it is up to you how/where you get the car fixed with the money they gave you

I highly doubt it with Just Cars

Wouldn't it still have to be a specified workshop stated by the insurers because what if the workshop you choose end up doing something that wrecks the motor again?

Well they have to agree to it, they have to give a warranty on the work carried out.

I can't see them writing a cheque either.

I should have more news tomorrow.
