Hey guys,

I was speaking to a mate of mine about transfer cases, as I think the rear seal on mine is rooted (lots of oil on the tail shaft and floor pan, I will find out this week if it is the trasnfer case). He mentioned something about getting Polyurethane or Solid engine mounts because when I give it some stick my motor would be lifting up and it pulls the tail shaft out of the transfer case (just a bit, enough to wear it out over time). Can anyone clarify if this can happen and if Polyurethane engine mounts can prevent the rear seal on the trasnfer case from blowing out?

Well yeah, worn engine mounts that allow the engine to move more than it should will cause problems elsewhere. It just comes down to maintenance of rubber mounts and seals, not so much using solid polyurethane ones. Your seal could have been worn and due replacement anyway and worn engine mounts have been allowed to go unchanged for too long accelerated it.

get some ralliart roll stoppers, that stops the engine from moving.

the seal will leak over time anyway, and as rob said after time things get looser and move around more which makes it all happen alot faster

I know VR4 yokes have a common problem, they leak from the inside. Not sure if it is the same case as gsr/evo's...

im having similar problems, ive replaced the seal 2 times now and its stil lleaking. Its not from inside the yoke either.

NO, Mitsu have made a Revised Yoke as they had issue's with the earlier Yoke's prone to failure

what about the yoke causes the leaks? the surface where the seal runs on mine is mint, makes no sense for it to leak.

thats the one i am using, meeks. stopped my leaks :)

where was yours leaking, past the seal or out the back of the yoke in the plug?

The Yoke actually has a plug in the centre of it.
That is what leaks.

A quick fix is to clean it and seal it from the inside with some sort of sealant..

i know your probably very certian of this, but i will add my two cents.

i was very sure i wasnt leaking from the plug as well, after changing the seals a couple of times and still experiencing small leaks that would spray the trans tunnel in the same location and leave a few drips a night. i decide to replace the yoke.

when i removed the yoke i just filled it with tranny fluid and you could clearly see it seeping slowly past the plug.

once i replaced it with the updated one meek sells, never had a leak since.

Just fitted a full set of the Ralliart motor mounts on mine, and that engine ain't moving an inch now! Car felt a little like a vibrator on wheels when I fired it up initially but has settled down a bit now.

Is that the one on Meeks website John>? under the EVO1-3 section
Yes thats it Meek have probably sold over 120 Revised Yokes in the last 3years as we find old yoke's leaking on almost every old gsr or evo.
