I have to wire up my autronic SMC to mate the GSR loom to the VR4 motor. I have a quote for $600 ( which includes a new $250 autronic loom ) for the whole loom wired up plug and play. The quote is from: http://quickfitmotorsport.com.au/.

Has anybody ever dealt with these guys and/or would know if that seems a good price?

Thanx mark

why dont u buy an adapter harness? will cost about $360 and its easy to remove and plug in the factory ecu again.

Jon

yeah, thats a plus

but a major minus is using existing 15 yr old wiring, I think Autronic actually highly recommend using their looms, something to do with wire resistance and ECU calibration ....

you will be better off using the full SMC loom in the long run.

It also saves fault finding as well, which can be a pain in the arse if somethings not right once youve wired the whole engine bay....

thats true tho.. but how bout if you have to return it to stock? pain in the ass!!! if your loom works well now.. why change it?

I have seen the expertise of the guys that do it up here and it leaves a little to be desired. Once it is wired up, its staying in there. I would rather do it right the first time for a change..

I would say there will be a closer place to get it done than hornsby nsw aren't you in cains??

Ray Hall doesn't do much hands on stuff any more. He is into the sales side of things. The guys up here who do the custom car thing take months. I have had enough of waiting and paying others to do nothing. At least this way it gets done..

So Ray can't point you in the right direction to get it done fast? Surely he could recommend someone in brissie to do it??

The difference between sydney and brissie is sweet FA when i have to send it down there anyway. He did recommend someone up here but he wired up my old car. Did a good job but took him 10mths..

If you're going to send it to Sydney, get a quote from Scott @ Insight Motorsport .. friends with autronics swear by him, and he's got a pretty impressive resume.

I hear he's a bit pricey though, so it might be hard to beat the quote from QFM.

My Microguess cost $400 to wire in,+ 200 for a new harness.
I'll be taking it to JEM - Just Engine Management for the tune. They can also install the ECU for you.

But In townsville (Garbutt) there's a guy with a dyno next super cheap auto. I had a chat to him and said he has done some work on evo's.
I've forgotten the name of the place.

I believe this company to be owned by Ray Hall

Thanks for that tip. Went and saw Ray Hall again today and mentioned the adapters. He only has them for the SM4 but after a bit of redesigning, he is going to make me one up to fit the SMC. $95 you can't go to far wrong..
