Help Support 4GTuner:

if u guys are stuck ,i am at strathpine and have spare everything plus multimeter, ive just finished rewiring the mg so im free,

Thx man could definitely use some help
If u have a spare ecu i could plug in and try thatd be great
If ur not too busy 2moro swing this way

Well if your getting fuel, it's not the pump relay. Swap out ECU's, does it stink like off egg?

Its getting fuel...ecu doesnt look or smell burnt out at all
had the caps done last year could smell it then

my old tr magna had a similar problem, throw in the car turning on and of at random, worked out to be the ecu

Got those symptoms...last time the ecu went it wouldnt even turn over
hopefully someone will let me try their ecu or a spare they have
then ill know if it is that or not

Oh man, I coulda come today and had a sticky. I won't be able to make it tomorrow though.
P.S - that is the MFI relay Jerome (i.e the fuel pump relay in Jonson's words)

Was gonna hit u up Mo
I no u got vr4s coming out ur ears haha
Talked to my peeps in Thailand today
hopefully should have something sorted by the end of the week
ill let ya know...got a ecu coming 2moro so ill find out if thats it or not
thats why i like this forum, everyones always willing to help out
feels like being part of a team ;)
had to slip that one in there haha
will let you all no how things pan out

Big thanks to Trent ( turbovr4 ) for coming over and helping us out today...MUCH APPRECIATED !!!
Definitely learnt a few things on how to manually check, im the first to admit im a novice
when it comes to these things... pretty poor for a mitsi owner i no
With the process of elimination, traced back to the ecu, which was what the vfaq diagnosis pointed out
Trent has let me borrow his spare ecu for the meantime not that ill be driving it anywhere
still have the 720s and the 055 maf, just so carl can move it around his house when needs to
Got a feeling maybe theres something wrong with the chip only because there doesnt seem
to be anything burnt out and theres no smell to indicate that, although who nows when it comes to the ecu
so once again ( caps last year ) im going to have to find someone to find the problem and fix it
if its not the chip that is.

So if anyone knows anyone, preferably in Queensland, that has experience with this would be a great help
Last time i sent it back to NZ to get fixed

If you want to get the ecu test Jerome drop it into Automotive Service Solutions at 3/121 Newmarket Rd Windsor. It's right across the road from Homezone.
They chipped my last ecu and they really know their stuff.
I think I might have a spare 750cc chip floating around here somewhere if you want to try it out?

You haven't put the chip around the wrong way in your other ECU by any chance?

Spare ecu isnt socketed...if thats what u mean
chip for 720s been in there over a year and hasnt been removed at all

Thanks for that Tim ill definitely check them out
When u say they chipped ur last ecu do you mean you got it socketed for the removable eprom?
If thats so...how much did they charge? Carl wants to get one done for his gsr hatch
was going to try the original chip i have just to see if it starts
i dont need to drive the car at all

Sorry Jerome, I meant to say that they socketed my ecu mate.
From memory it was about $140 but I got them to check it over at the same time.

Thats cool Tim new what ya menat
Ill have to get them to take a look at it
Carl be happy to no that $140 not too bad
thx for that

OMG, $140?
I should make a business out of this. :p
I was gonna ask the QLD members if they wanted caps replaced or ECU socketed, as I was gonna do a bulk run at the place I used to work, but I thought most I know up here already have had them 'chipped' so I never did..
I can copy/burn EPROM's if that's handy to you at all Jerome.
Rob and I were supposed to get a library of different EPROM config's happening but then DSMlink V3 came along and we never went any further with it. I do have a few, but not one for 720cc inj.
And yeah man, don't be afraid to call hey, if I'm busy I'll tell you, but most times I'm happy to help where I can. :)

P.S - Trent, you're supposed to be a fitter! haha
It could be worse...a sparky trying his hand with mechanical

i wouldnt mind getting a copy of the chip i have if its still ok
u can then add to ur library list
i just want to no if it is the ecu and whats wrong with it
will try the original chip this weekend see if it starts

Much Appreciated Trent...will have your ecu back next week
thanks for your help man

i had the same problem mate, it turned out to be the ignition module, that mounts on the side of the intake manifold, its lost its signal wont let the coil packs spark thus not turning on the car :) hope that helps ya.....

Picked up the ecu today...plugged it in...started but is now running very rough
like its missing or something. checked everything that we played with looking for the fault...seems ok
not sure whats going on...any ideas?

will try trents ecu again tommorrow see if it does the same thing

MO came round today took a look at the ecu
