WTB: 1x 17" 5spoke HR125 or Ozzy 080 rim

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

gilly bro just run the stockie untill you find someone to fix it at least you save tred on the tyres.......... and what tyres are you running on the rim? brand wise?

unfortunately i left the "buggered" tyre at the tyre shop. I almost didnt get to even take the cracked rim home after they put my space saver on, i would have assumed they put it in my boot, but they only did that after i asked as i was leaving.

The tyre is a Toyo 205/40ZR17 TPG 84W (have the receipt next to me!)

oh i see Toyo 205/40ZR17 TPG are a nice tyre byt there not stiff and not soft tyre but i sure they would take a beating even after being flat...... i would ask for the tyre back and if it has mysteriosly dissapeared then i would be thinking twice about that place... ..........

um.... steel belted radials when running on deflated tyres still wont screw up the tyre structual integrity but will eat the crap out of the sides of the tred .... dunno were the loose rubber comes from? never came accros that before......

and if its only a hair line crack, they should be able to weld it, machine it, and balance it and its back to normal, if it was a huge crack then it would be time to get a new rim.......

Run a street tyre deflated and you'll tear the steel out of the sidewall.

Basically you look at the inside edge of the tyre (the bit you usually can't see) and if you see unusual ribbing or wear patterns, it's fucked. Get a new one.

Happens within 15km of running on a flat. Faster on lower profile tyres.

As for your rim, it can DEFINATELY be repaired. If nobody in adelaide will do it, have it sent to Advanced Alloys in Melb... they'll repair it for about 80 bucks and then return shipping... http://www.advancedalloys.com.au/home/
