WTB: Complete EVO 2 or 3 Shell

just do that to you current car, just take the car to any race prep place and have it seam welded, (it wont cost to much) and then just re paint that shell.? it seemed a bit silly to me to do a whole swap over for little gain. Infact i thin k a seam welded GSR would be far stronger than a stock evo.

Is it just the strut tower bracing, and that V brace behind the rear seat? Or are there more subtle differences?

Also, what seam welding are you talking about?

There's not alot of extra strengthening pieces Dan - there's the V-brace, strut tower braces and some 'wings' that run from the steel crossmember to the trailing arm mounts. For the messing around you'd go through with a re-shell - in my opinion you're better off putting the extra pieces in your existing shell. For somebody who knows how to weld - it's not a big job. You'll get pissed with drilling out spotwelds, but apart from that...

A good place like Sean Mullins racing will be able to do it for you.. He is very good to, be builds drag cars and V8 Super cars roll cages etc etc So, yeah , you could trust him

yeh it would be really easy to just pinch the bits you need from a shell, Just as ENGINR said drilling spot welds suck, tho with the propper bit its a little better. Would be a heap easier than a a full swap over.

as for seam welding, there are a few main points that seam welding would help. Pretty much just go along any of the main joints like around engine mounts, around suspension pick up points, between the rails and the firewall, and the rails to the floor etc. There would be a heap of places that could do it for you, or just make friends with some one with a decent mig

Rai Curry at FabRaiCations in Braeside can sort you out for seam welding, that will strengthen up the shell alot. If you want to add the evo braces just to be snazzy then unpick them from a wreck and weld them in too.
