You will need to be on the ball with finding one/paying for it AND beating me to it :p

I am lead to believe that the only rule regarding ownership/registration once a personal import arrives in Australia is that the first person to register the car must be the same person as on the approval for personal import. If this is not the case and in fact the person who imported the car must own it a certain amount of time before selling it, then could you please tell me where I can get this information. This is my first time personally importing so I'm not 100% sure on everything, so any help would be appreciated.

Call your state registration authority. Laws change from state to state.

If you register an import in vic (I can't say it's still true), you used ot have to have it registered in vic for 24 months before you could sell it interstate. I have a feeling they threw that law out with the RAWS changes tho.

Best bet is to ring vicroads or the rta or whoever.

I have inquired with TransportSA as it will be initially registered in SA and as long as I register it first there are no problems.
