WTB: Remote Oil Filter Relocation Kit
Hi guys, can anyone direct me who, where and how much I can get one of these for to suit the VR4/EVO engine please? Thanks

get one for me too whichever you decide 8)

email the guys at earls too, at least youll know that the stuff youre getting from them is of high quality.......

it also pays to do your lines initially in non-braided hose, esp seeing (I) dont really know where i want to put the filter, and therefore dont know how much hose ill need!

Yep I already emailed Earls and I havent bought any of the EBay ones until I hear back from Earls tomorrow. It works out better getting the one with the lines and elbows included as buying those -10AN elbows seperately from Earls alone cost around $40 each and then you've got hoses on top :roll:

It's my turn to buy from overseas now eh Daniel? :lol: no probs mate, I'll PM you with the final figure and we'll go in halves like before :wink:

i bought a oil filter relocating kit without the hoses for $80 from xracing and is exactly the same as the one selling on ebay for $180AU, then i went to supercheap auto and bought some oil cooler rubber hoses for $15 in standard black and it works like a treat.

nice flebay spoting Rob...

I take it that the only differenced between the two are/is that one compes with two hoses...

This would be too easy to plumb an oil cooler back into the return oil line for us 4g93t owners :p

hahaha yeah why not. ill be waiting patiently 8)

Earls got back to me:
Billet aluminium Bypass adaptor 1119 is $66.00
Cast aluminium 2177 $45.38
Billet aluminium 2178 $103.12
All prices include GST.

This is without elbows and braided lines so I think the kit from the U.S works out cheapest and best.

DOH

theyre stuff looks so good too...................

which one are you leaning towards?

Yeah Driven have the same as the US EBay ones http://www.drivenperformance.co.nz/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=650

I'd rather not use exposed rubber hose but get the braided line and a short section of thermo insulator over it because where the oil filter sits on both 4G93T and 4G63T (when using non-standard manifolds and bigger turbos) it can sit quite close to the dump pipe and bend off the back of the turbo. Some people go a sharp angle off the back of the dump or beat in a section of the pipe to give clearance to the oil filter but its not optimium and you may find yourself unbolting the exhaust system just to get enough room to change the oil filter (which we should be doing often in our turbo engines).

Ive spent over a grand easy with Earls lately and I know how expensive those -10an fittings and lines are :lol:
* Earls -10AN 90 elbow fittings are at least $40 each = $80+
* Earls -10AN autoflex braided line is $47/m and you need 2m = $94.
* Earls Billet aluminium 2178 mount = $103.12
* Earls Billet aluminium Bypass adaptor 1119 = $66.00
Grand total Earls products is a minimum of $354 + postage.

I still reckon ya cant beat $180AU to your door for the US Ebay CNC machined alloy items complete with the -10AN lines and 90 elbows (all the items as per Earls order above) as it works out at half the price! :wink:

Whaddya think Daniel? :lol:

nope thats not the one i bought, the one i bought is exactly the same as the one from ebay but without the braided lines and elbows, i'll try and take a pic sometime this weekend to show u my setup, it works perfectly :D , but yeah braided line with elbows will be my next upgrade but at that time i was short of money so i couldnt afford the bling bling/quality stuff. I'll be checking out from pirtek to see how much they will charge me for braided lines and fittings. Could be cheaper then earls who knows.

Yes yes, i see what you mean.

Can i ask what happens to the oil cooler thats there already? that whole assembly on the filter housing can i bin it? or is it worth keeping? i want to change to an external aftermarket oil cooler so I may as well do it at the same time.

i wonder if we got the earls billet stuff, it would work out any cheaper getting the lines and fittings from pirtek?

Just screw it into where the existing oil filter goes and leave the stock oil cooler where it is if you want. OR, you can go from the engine to the remote oil filter mount, then to the oil cooler, then back to the engine, so it will mean you need 3 hoses.

Anyhow, I just bought 2 units if you wanted one. All up its costing with insurance $382AU = $191AU each delivered. When I get it in I'll send you my bank details to deposit into, then I'll need your address again Daniel :D
